Jake POV:

I glance at the girl next to me. I wanted to ask where she was going when her phone rings. She suddenly jerk her head and answers the phone with wide eyes. I study her features as she starts talking to the person on the phone.

She has long brown wavy hair that frames her small face. She goes up to my shoulder, but her small features make her look strong and fierce. When I bumped into in front of the bookshop, I noticed her eyes, a shade of grey that was incredible. I stared at awe as she glared at me. I didn't even notice that she was on the floor. She was beautiful and at the same time, it felt like I knew her.
Say I'm crazy, but it felt like I met her before. I don't even know her name and I started being annoyed by her. She blamed me when I bumped into her. And in return, I blamed her. It was her fault anyway. I wouldn't let a girl boss me around and tell me that I was wrong.

I returned from my thoughts and look over at her. She closed her phone and sighs heavily. Was something wrong?? My eyebrows furrowed when she starts fidgeting with her fingers. I stare at her and was about to ask if she was okay, when we got interrupted by another ring. She opens her phone again and I hear loud screaming coming from the phone.

The other person on the phone was yelling earlier, but I ignored it, not wanting to eavesdrop. This time, I couldn't help but listen in.

" YOU'RE GONNA BE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!!! MOM AND DAD ARE GONNA BE HOME IN 15 MINUTES!!! JUST YOU WAIT!! YOU'RE ASS IS GONNA BE BEATEN So YOU BETTER COME HOME NOW!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS!!!  YOU DESERVE THIS YOU LITTLE BITCH!!!!!!!!!

I seriously can't believe the other person on the
Phone. Who deserves to be punished when their late. I look at my watch. It was only 4:03. No one has curfew at 4:00. Hell, no one has curfew at all these days. Especially teenager. she looked like she was at least 18 and even though I barely knew her, I felt like it was my job to help her.

She closes her phone and I start to say something. That's when I notice her shaking. Literally shaking like she was cold. I look around, but there was no wind. "Oh she's scared," I thought. She didn't want to go home and face her parents. I move toward her and put my arm around her waist, protectively. She flinches at my closeness and I could smell her perfume.

"Hey it's going to be okay. Don't worry you're going to be safe." I say reassuringly.

I turn so I'm hugging her and she starts crying against my chest. I try not smile at this, and hold her as if she could break any minute. She wraps her hands around my waist tightly and we stay like this for a few minutes and after sniffing a few times, she steps back from our embrace.
"Thanks." She mumbles and stares at the ground.
I clear my throat and try to act casual," no problem."
"I'll be going now," she say and starts to walk away. I catch up with her, smirking again.

"Where do you think you're going. I'll drive you home."

"I'll just take the bus. I don't want to trouble you,"

"It's no problem,"

" no really, it's fine,"
I grab her wrist and firmly hold it until she stops walking. She faces me, and I can see her face is still red from crying. She bites her lip and starts trying to get me to let go.

" please let me go," she whispers.

I sigh and let go. " listen, you're supposed to be at your house in 15 minutes and it takes about half an hour for the next bus to come. You won't make it to your house in time. Now why don't you let me drive you home for God damn sake. I'm not going to kidnap you or anything. So let's go,"

Surprisingly she nods and I raise my eyebrows in surprise. I didn't expect her to agree. Well at least she said yes. I took her hand and leads her to my car. She follows me silently and I think to myself wondering why she would be so scared to go home. I start the engine and get in the car.
