Lily POV:
I sit in the car and nervously look out the window. God, I can't believe what had just happened a few minutes ago. I still felt the warmth of his body pressed against mine. I didn't even know this guy, and I was already hugging him. Strangely though, it felt calming when he whispered that everything was going to be okay. Honestly, when I heard that my parents were coming home, I started getting nervous and worried.
I guess the guy noticed this and tried to help me. I have no idea what would happen if he wasn't there. But still, the thought of him touching me was exhilarating and nerve- wrecking at the same time. I steal a glance at him and he doesn't notice. For the past few minutes, he's been staring at the road and nothing else. After I told him my address, I settled down on the car seat and tried to relax. Of course, I started overthinking the situation. When I was alone, I had a habit of thinking, a little too much thinking.
What was going to happen when I got home? Why did this random stranger, a person who I just barely met and didn't even know the name of, helped me? Silly old me?? The girl who he bumped into?? The girl who wouldn't apologize to him?? And why did he offer to drive me home?? why did I even agree to let him drive me home ?? I may never know the answer. I grew more and more confused. " Stop it Lily!!!" I tell myself. "No more thinking,"
I stared at the window and noticed it started to rain. I could see trees blowing and droplets of rain poured down. Ughhhhhhh. Rain plus silence could drive someone crazy, in my opinion. I grew up in a house where it was always quiet. It was considered rude to be loud at home. Especially when my parents were home. They enjoyed the peace and quiet and I learned to hate it. Countless hours of being stuck in my room was torture, even for a little kid.
"Someone please talk." I say in my mind. Should I talk to him?? I considered this idea. He could be nice and we could have a decent conversation or he could be an asshole and ignore me. Well here goes nothing....
"What's your name????" I blurted out. From the corner of my eye, I could see the guy smirk. "How cocky of him," I thought."Took you long enough to ask that question," he says.
"Well since I finally asked, why don't you answer the question," I shot back. He chuckles and shakes his head. I frown at this. If he's been waiting for me to ask this question, why doesn't he answer.
"Are you going to tell me your name or do I
have to guess""Why don't you guess, I don't think someone like you should know my name. You'll probably spread rumors about me, if you know who I was,"
I scoffed."Like anybody would want to spread rumors about you. And I doubt you're that special,"
"We'll see about that then,"
"So I can really guess what your name is huh,"
"Didn't I already say yes,"
"Fine asshole, I'll call you green peas then,"
I try to contain my laughter as his face turns from surprise to angry.
"How original," he scoffs.
"Thanks, it's a talent of mine."
He shakes his head and reaches for the radio.
"Your so childish," he says.
I grin at him. So talking with him wasn't so bad after all.
"Aren't you going to ask what my name is," I ask curiously.
"I don't want to know your name, "
"You're not a little bit curious about who I am,"
"Not at all,"
"How is that even possible?"
He shrugs his shoulders and looks at me. I couldn't help but stare into his deep sea green eyes. I gulped, swallowing the large lump in my throat. God he was hot. I try to act casual and he just stares at him not saying a word. I didn't even notice that the car stopped moving. The engine was still running and you could hear the soft rumble every now and then.
"Is this the right address," he says breaking the silence.
"Oh uhh y- yeah t- this is my stop," I stuttered. I didn't get a chance to look outside the window, but I answered anyway.
"Ok then, aren't you going to go now??"
" ohhhh yeah, I better go then.thanks for the ride " I say. Silly old me. Of course I'm supposed to get out of the car. As I start to turn to open the door, I hear the guy clear his throat.
" my name's Jake by the way,"
I whip my head to face him. I shoot him a smile and wave." I'm lily, but I'm still gonna call you green peas" I say as I close the car door. I see him smirk at me and waves as he drives away. My cheeks are flushed from being in the warm car for too long and as soon as I step outside. I'm instantly hit by cold air. I shiver at the cold and start to walk up to my house.
