Deep in thought, I try to think of a plan to win the bet between Jake and I. And so far, there's nothing. My mind is blank. Being a maid was not an option. And for that jerk. That was going to be even worse: what now?
The bus slowly gets to a stop at the bus stop and I smile at the driver before hopping off the vehicle. Working was now the best part of my day. Not just for the money but the experience too. Working besides Alice and Jessica was more fun than I realized. Their personality made everyone like them, myself included. I actually felt like we were becoming closer. Maybe they could actually be my friends. But I felt guilty for not telling them who I really was. Telling them would only make them treat me differently. I didn't want that. I was finally able to act like a normal teenager.
I opened the door of Sugar and joined Alice in the staff room. Alice was a quiet 18 year old girl, but she had a good heart. I saw she acted the most mature out of all three of us. She had applied to the same college as me and was working over the summer to pay for her new apartment. She also had a unspoken relationship with one of the coworkers, Andy. Me and Jessica both ship them and it looked like it worked. They both seemed to like each other, but was too afraid to admit it. It was really cute in a way. They were perfect together.
Same with Jessica. She and Ron had a well you can say relationship. They argued about almost anything and everything and I had a feeling they have something going on too. As for me. Well. I was single and staying single.
"So have you heard from that Jake guy," Alice asked.
"Yeah I have. What about him?" I ask unsure of what this conversation was going.
"Oh nothing. It's just you keep on shipping me with Andy and I have to get you back for what you did."
"Oh don't you dare," I shot back with a playful smile lighting up my face.
"Oh I would. You ship me and Andy and Jessica with Ron. It's time for payback. I think you and Jake make a perfect couple. Don't you think Lily,"
"Ewwww that guy. Are you seriously. We're basically like enemies now."
"Well opposites do attract,"
" yeah like an angel and devil will ever like each other,"
"Oh don't be such a pessimist Lily. I see the way he looks at you. And besides guys only act like that around a girl they like."
"Well what about Andy then," I ask trying to change the subject.
She blushes a crimson color and I giggle, finally able to tease her instead of the other way around.
"Me and him have nothing going on.not like you and Jake."
" Alice really. He helps you when you have to carry heavy boxes and you guys can talk for hours without stopping. How is that not a relationship."
"What is not a relationship," Jessica pipes up as she sits on the chair in between us.
"Oh about Alice's relationship with Andy,"
"Ohhhhh. I ship them so hard," she gushes.
"Guys stop. I'm not in a relationship with him."
"But you will be soon." Jessica says with a mischievous smile.
I nod as Jessica says this. They were going to be a couple. I knew it.
"Come on ladies. We need to get dressed, or we're going to be late," Alice says.
Jessica and I both roll our eyes at Alice's attempt at changing the subject and we laugh as we get dressed.
Another day. Another one filled with exciting new things
