Lily POV:

" Are we going to go work or what?" says Jake crossong his arms.

" yeah, yeah I'm coming. Quit being annoying." I say waving him off.

We head off to the direction of the cash register in silence. Both of our feets shuffling.

Well this was awkward. Jake was actually being quiet for once. Of course I don't know him that well. So I couldn't judge. Andy, Ron, Jake, Alice, Jessica and I had made a schedule for our shifts. Currently, everyone of my shifts would be with Jake. It wasn't my doing. Alice and Jessica had conspired and made this plan. And in return, both of them had to work with Andy and Ron. We reach the cash register and I start absentmidingly playing with the books on the table.

" Why aren't you talkative today Lily," He says.

I glance up at him.

" I'll talk when I want to Jake and for you information, I'm thinking of a plan." I snapped.

He cocks his head like he's confused.

" A plan for what?" asks Jake.

He leans on the counter, close to my face. We share breaths and my heart goes off like an alarm.

THUMP.THUMP. THUMP.

I stare at his eyes for what seems like eternity. He seems really familiar. Like I've met him before. I just don't where.

" Have you fallen for me already?" whispers Jake.

The hair on the back of my neck goes up and I get goosebumps all over. I break our gaze and clear my throat. What had just happened? Was I really falling for him? It can't be.

" We should really do our work now," I say uncomfotably.

He raises his eyebrows as I say this and moves a couple of feet away.

" You didn't answer my question. Could it actually be true?" he says smirking.

My face heats up at this. " NO!!!!!" I protest.

"So it's true then." remarks Jake.

" It's not true. I already hate you. Why would I like you? Stop acting like a fuckboi already. Seriouly. I hate guys like you."

"Guys like me huh. And what kind of guy would that be?"

"A guy that's a jerk and- hey you already know what kind of guy you are."

" How do you know I know?"

" Because ughhhh. Why are you so complicated. Just go back and do your job."

I turn around and start rearranging the stack of magazines on the shelf. I hear him chuckle and greet a customer. My fingers tap lightly on the shelf, trying to forget that moment jake and I shared a few minutes again.

"Focus Lily," I say to myself, " You still have to win that bet."

The doorbell rings when a customer wals out and I finally back turn around to face Jake.

" Thought about it already. You can't bear to get mad at me right." He says smirking.

" Does your mouth ever hurt from smirking so much?" I ask.

His eyes narrow and I smile back.

" What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means that you smirk too much idiot. You should smile more. Like this."

I grin at him and he scowls.

" I don't need to smile,"

"You are so wrong,"

"Oh how am I wrong,"

" I'll show you why you're wrong,"
