Chapter 11:

Lily's POV:

I couldn't believe my ears. He was going to apply for the job. A job that I desperately wanted. A job that I finally had the courage to apply for. Ughhhhhhhh. This guy. Why did I keep bumping into him. There was bad luck every time I met him. I could almost feel Jake smirking right now. And soon enough, when I glanced up at him, he was smirking and staring at me, amusement in his eyes. He stands closer to me and I try to shove him away.!

Jessica, the cashier looks uncomfortable as she observes the staring contest between me and Jake. She clears her throat and we both look up.
" umm w-well I'm going to check with the manager to see if both of you guys can apply for the job. Um.. You guys can wait here if that's okay," she says and with that she scurries of in search of the manager. I wave until she disappeared from sight. As soon as she was gone, I turn to Jake.

"What the hell do you want with me jerk," I hiss.

"Woah, a little touché aren't you sugar," he remarks.

I scowl at him and his eyes flicker in amusement.

"Don't call me sugar you pervert,"

"Wow, so I'm a pervert now. I thought I was only a jerk and a asshole."

"Ughhhhh why are you so childish and arrogant,"

"Looks like you got better at your insults sugar."

"Ughhhhhhhhhh"

Anger was boiling inside me and I reach over to the counter, the one behind me and get the newly published book.

He chuckles and I ignore him.

"Playing the ignorant card now, huh Lily," he says.

I don't answer him and continued to read the book. He leans against the counter and I can see his muscles through his t- shirt. He most probably had a 6 pack and my mind wandered to a picture of him naked. I shake my head and sigh. What was wrong with me. This guy was obviously trouble and yet I found time to admire his perfect body. Yep. His body was amazing alright. His face wasn't too bad either. Nope. His face was gorgeous. Every girl would fall for him no doubt. Exclude his personality, he was definitely a perfect guy. But why was I observing him anyway?

"Admiring my body huh Lily. You know many women would die to get spoken to like this. You should feel honored."

Oh god. So he did notice me looking at him. How embarrassing. Oh well. Since we both were not on good terms with each other. Why not add more fuel to the fire.

"Honor my ass. With a person like you. It's a wonder if you get one girl."

" oh come on, pretty soon you're gonna fall for me too,"

"In your dreams asshole, you are such a- "

I got interrupted when a phone rings. Jake holds up a hand and digs around his pocket until he takes out a phone. He mouths the words," go away," and I flip him off. No way was I moving because he was taking a phone call. He makes a shooing gesture and I shake my head. No way.

"Lily," someone calls out.

I turn around to see Jessica rushing toward me.
"What is it?" I ask.

"The manager is asking for you so he can interview you. The interview is in his office so Meet him in his office right now. Just make a left when you see the bathroom sign. Good luck." She says in a excited voice.

"Thanks," I say. Wow Jessica sure was chatty and friendly. I start heading toward the manager's office nervously. Was I going to get this job?? I wanted to. Needed to get this job.

20 minutes later.............

"Yesssssssssss, I got the job," I screamed. Jessica rushes toward me and hugs me. I'm shocked for a second before I recover and hug her back. Hugging people was something I needed to get used to.

"Omg i can't believe we are going to be co- workers now. This is going to be so much fun," she squeals.

"I know. This is going to be so much fun," I yell💓

I couldn't wait to get started the next day. This summer was one I would never forget. I knew it. As me and Jessica jump and hug, someone behind us taps us on the shoulder. I release Jessica and turn around. I see Jake standing there with a grin on his face. I narrow my eyes. Why was he smiling. This was the first time he smiled since I met him. He was scaring me a little. A lot actually. He was scaring me a lot.

"I passed the interview. I'm your new co- worker from now on,"
