Jake POV:
Lily was staring off into space with her elbows on the counter. Again. Ever since I met her, she's been drifting off twice. I smile and chuckle to myself. What was she thinking about now? Just moments ago, we were talking and laughing out ass off. I was surprised when she started talking about what I liked. Pleasantly surprised. No one hasn't asked me about my personal life in forever. The door opens and I hear a jingle. I snap my fingers at Lily and she jerks her head in shock.
"What was that?!" She shrieks whirling around.
"That was me telling you that a customer is here and considering that you work here, you should go and help that person over there"
I smirk and point toward the blond headed middle aged women heading toward the romance section. She glares at me and attempts to whack me. I sense her action and move out of the way just in time. As a result. She smacks the air and almost fall head first onto to the tiled floor.
"How can an employee be so clumsy? You shouldn't hit other people. Watch out or the boss is going to fire you."
She gives me a look and I smirk.
"Shoo shoo. Go and help that lady over there."
"Fuck off Jake," she says and walks out of the counter.
"I gladly will," I shout and wave to her.
This was fun and entertaining. Andy shouts something from the storage room and I shake my head.
Looks like I needed to help him again.
"I'm coming Andy,"
10 minutes later, I was helping Andy carry boxes from the shelves for Alice to organize and make count of.
"Are we almost done Alice," Andy groans as he lifts a huge brown from the shelf.
"If you would've hurried up earlier and didn't ask Jake to help us. We would've been done an hour ago. "She says marking something on the clipboard in her hand.
He sets the box on the floor and continues to set down box after box, while I stack the boxes on the floor into neat rows.
"What were you guys doing in here anyway? Making out? It doesn't take that long to sort and organize all of this." I ask out of breath from the labor
Both turn pink at my remark.
"No" they both say simultaneously.
I chuckle at their frightened looks.
"You guys sure are a pair. No wonder everyone wants you guys to be together."
The two look at each other with a smug look.
I finish stacking the boxes and dust off my hands.
"Well I'm just about done here. So you guys finish up down here and go on up. Don't stay here for too long."
I wink at both of them and leave them to finish up or whatever they were doing down there.
Once I return to the counter, I find Jessica and Ron punching and poking at each other while they sweep the floor and dust the shelves.
"Are you guys always this immature? Seriously. Go out and sweep and clean the front of the store. "
They nod at my order and shuffle away still poking and teasing each other.
I look around for Lily and notice she was nowhere to be found. Where was she now?
