The guy looked down at me and scowled. He looked older than I was maybe by a few years. I groaned and started to get up.
"Watch where you're going next time lady, " he saidI glared at him. " it's not my fault that you were the one who bumped into me."
" you were the one who was not looking,"
"Oh yeah and I should be the one apologizing even though I was the one who fell."
" Yeah you should be apologizing right now,"
" how is this my fault. You should just apologize and leave, " I said angrily
" And why should I apologize when it wasn't my fault. You were the one who wasn't looking. I shouldn't be the one to apologize because you were clumsy." He smirked and started to walk away.
How dare he!!!! I started to reach for something so I could throw it at him.
" You're the one who should say sorry!!!! You jerk" I screamed as I threw a pencil at him. Of course I missed and he waved at me before he turned the corner. "That ignorant jerk," I thought to myself as I started to pick up the things that fell out of my backpack. I sighed and went into the bookstore. While I was looking at the new books, I realized something.I talked back to the stranger. Normally I would apologize and be on my way. This time I actually wasn't being shy. Why was that?? I grew more confused than ever. What was with that stranger anyway. He was the one who bumped into me. How arrogant he was.
"At least I don't have to see him again," I though happily.
I picked a new released book and went to the counter to buy it. That's when I noticed a sign:
-Now Hiring Part Timers -
I shook my head as I thought to myself. No I shouldn't get a job. Especially a part time job. My family would kill me if they found out. They didn't think it was proper to get such a lowly job like that. What would they do if they found out I was doing such a job. I shook my head again. I was about to head out the door when I heard someone speak.
"Are you okay," a person spoke shyly.
I looked up and a girl my age smiled at me. I smiled shyly noticing her brown curls and large brown eyes.
"I'm okay," I say shyly.
She noticed me staring at the part time job and smiled again.
"Oh are you thinking about applying for the part time job. That would be so cool. I work part time here too." She says.
"Why is she talking to me." I wondered. Oh well, if I apply for this job, then I might make some friends. Friends who don't know my true identity. And at least I can stay away from home. Summer officially started and I had nothing to do. Might as well do something worthwhile. While I was debating with myself, the girl started idly looking at books.
Before I could change my mind and blurted out, " I'll apply for the job,"
"That's great."
She extended her hand and I cautiously shook it. I smiled wider and took a application from the counter.
"I'm Jessica by the way,"
"I'm Lily,"
"Nice to meet you,"
" you too. I should get going though,"
"Ok,"
"I'll be back," I say and I step out the door.
Just as I turn a corner, I hear a chuckle from behind me.
I turn around quickly and spot the guy from earlier.
He has a smirk plastered all over and I glare at him with all my might.
"What do you want now," I say angrily.
"Oh you know what I want," he says, his eyes twinkling. He steps toward me slowly, a mysterious grin forming.
My eyes widen and I step back. What is going to happen to me..........
