Chapter 18 : Automail

We forgot alchemist.... Crap... How would we do now? I once practiced martial arts, but what can I do right now with my leg?? Not that I have one but-

-Jane watch out! Edward shouts clapping his hands.

I do my best to jump to the left as a huge rock fist comes out of the floor and hits the alchemist. This one, strong enough to resist, draws a circle and creates sparks dangerously appearing toward Edward. Fortunately, Alphonse reacts and replies by creating a wall to protect his brother. The fight lasts some times more, but as the Elric brothers are the strongest, the alchemist is quickly defeated and we can go back in the train to travel toward Resembool. I yawn and eventually fall asleep in the train...

When we arrive, it's already late outdoor, and some stars are shining in the deep blue sky. I yawn again and Edward carries me on his back until we reach Winry and Pinako's house. I am getting excited. I am going to have an automail! But before all... I'm going to meet Winry and Pinako in real!! I'll learn the secret to make good automails and all! Kyah I'm so happy!! Edward throws me hardly on the ground as he knocks on the door. I shoot him a death glare but he just smirks and bends to dodge a wrench coming from inside the house. And of course, I take it in the face....

-It huuuuuurts!!! I shout holding my face.

-That's Winry's wrench.... Al says shrugging.

-Ed! Al! What are you doing there so late?! And who is that?? she asks pointing me.

-She's... Erm, a friend... And she lost her leg... During a fight! So we came to see if you could do something.... Edward explains rubbing the back of his head.

A friend.... He describes me as a friend! I'm friend with Edward Elric! I can die happily~ but at the glare he's discreetly sending me, I calm down and nod.

-Yeah.... Can you... Can you make me an automail please? I beg her.

She seems surprised, but smiles.

-Well, why not. Come in, and Edward, carry her! A boy doesn't let a girl laying on the floor like that!

-Whatever....

He picks me up and walks in the house before setting me - not delicately at all - on the couch. I wince as a sharp of pain shoots through my leg and sigh when it goes away. Finally, granny Pinako comes some minutes after.

-Anew client?

-Rather a new friend! Winry explains happily, and I'm gonna make an automail for her!

-Oh well good luck! But are you sure you can handle the pain of the nerves connecting?

I nod.

-Yes! I will! I want to walk again!

Pinako pats my head, smiling.

-Good. Then don't waste time Winry! You know those two here don't like waiting too much!

She points the Elric brothers.

-Yes ma'am!

She then leaves to begin my automail. Edward sighs.
