School ended exactly at three. I sent my goodbyes to Maddie and Jackson, they went home on a bus. On my way to the front door, I ran into Lucas. This is going to be perfect, I thought my heart thumping loud.
"Err hey Lucas," I started awkwardly forcing myself to not ruin a smile. "Hey Ruby." He called flashing me a oh so beautiful smile.
"You going home?" he asked.
"Yeah. My mom's picking me up." I replied while taking out my phone and showing it to him. "Here's my number by the way. We'll need to discuss about our project later."
"Oh, cool...then I'll see you tomorrow." He shrugged still smiling.
As he was going to turn away for the door, I randomly said, "By the way, I like your hoodie."
"Oh, err thanks!" He replied walking forward for the front door and stepping out.
I was still standing there like a big idiot thinking to myself. Seriously, I like your hoodie? Nice job Ruby. I facepalmed and walk out the front door.
I met up with my mom at the parking lot and sadly, hoodie guy was standing beside our car. It looks like he drives home by himself. My mom would've never let me drive on my own until I'm like, 18.
Lucas spotted me and just waved. I waved back as he got in his car and drove home. I got in my car, fastening the seatbelt and my drove home.
On the way home, my mom looked at my way beginning a conversation, "Who was that boy dear, a new friend? Boyfriend perhaps?" Mom giggled.
"One. He is not my boyfriend. And two, he's a new kid and we're still acquaintances." I scoffed rolling my eyes.
"Honey, everyone is your friend at school. Anyway, how was the first day of school?" Mom asked cocking an eyebrow.
"I guess it wasn't the worst Monday." I shrugged leaning my head on the window staring at the buildings that were passing by.
The drive back home became silent. Neither of us talked. After what seemed like 15 minutes we arrived at home. HOME SWEET HOME. I COULD JUST KISS THE FLOOR RIGHT NOW.
My dad was already home. I ran towards him and gave him a big hug.
"HEY KIDDO! It's so nice to see you." He hugged me real tight.
"Hi dad! I can't believe you got home early." I said after the embrace was over.
"Yeah, today is my lucky day, I guess."
I went upstairs and head to my room, placed my bag, changed into a shirt and sweats and took of my shoes. We didn't have any homework on the first day, other then that history project.
I opened my laptop and Skyped Maddie.
"Hey, Ruby! Can't believe you've got Lucas as your partner for our history project." Maddie cried. She had to begin with that topic. *sighs*
"Ugh, I bet it's gonna be so awkward when I meet up with him at my house. We'll barely talk." I whined.
"At least you got a cute guy, Mrs. Grant paired me up with Henry Gregg Turner. I see him eat boogers everyday. Man, I can't stand him."
"*laughs* Good luck Madz!" I turned off my laptop and went downstairs to watch a movie with my dad.
We sat on a couch and picked a movie. We finally decided to have a Lord of the Rings marathon. I've always loved the LOTR movies ever since I was a child. I curled up on the couch beside my dad. I know most girls would usually do that with their boyfriends, with cuddling, smooching, and maybe a little more... but I guess I'm a daddy's girl :D
