LUCAS' MEMORY Part 3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LUCAS POV (8 years old)
I unlocked the door and crouched down to peak through the keyhole. Nobody was there. I grabbed the handle, pushed it down slowly, stepped out and closed the door behind me firmly.
I headed to Lucius' room. I peaked in but Lucius and Patty were no longer there. I ran as fast as I could through the corridor heading for my parents' room. I barged in their room and saw my dad lying awake on the bed.
"Lucas, please get out." Dad protested. "Dad I need to tell you something, it's important!" My dad rubbed his eyes and sat up straight on the bed, "Can't it wait?" "Dad, I saw Uncle Lucius doing dark spells in his room and he was showing them to Patty!" My dad replied, "what are you talking about Lucas, please stop lying. I'm going back to sleep." "No, dad please! I'm serious. I'm telling the truth! I sa-"
BOOM!!!
A loud sound of a cannon froze us. I made a loud scream and my father hurried to the wardrobe and put on his robe. We hurried out of the room when one of the guard came by us. He was panicking.
"Your Majesty! An army, outside the palace walls. They've managed to break through the town's barriers, they are now marching to the palace." He explained. My dad gasped deeply, "what army?" "The Arvhius."
The Arvhius has been known to be a dark army consisting of strong and evil dark sorcerers. But until now, we haven't figure out who their leader was.
My dad and I ran along the corridor and we looked for mom and Patricia, "Amelia! Patty!" I yelled for them as well.
My dad held my hand as we ran downstairs heading for the throne room. We looked around for mom and Patty.
"Where are they?" Dad sighed deeply, "I don't know." I gripped my dad's hand harder, "Dad, I'm scared." Dad paused. "Everything will be alright, son." He stroked the top of my head and his grip was tighter.
I could hear sounds of more cannons being shot and people screaming outside.
Suddenly, I heard bashing on the doors. They were trying to kick open the doors.
"Lucas, go to your room and hide!" Dad instructed. "But dad-" "Lucas, NOW!"
I gasped and turned around running straight for my room. As I was heading for my room, I felt a cold breeze blowing from behind me. I turned to see where it was coming from. It came from Patty's room. I ran there as fast as I could and the door was slightly opened, so I peeked in.
Lucius was there, Patty as well. Lucius' arms were aimed at Patty's body and he was casting dark and stormy clouds and smoke at her. Her eyes started to fade out and she collapsed on the floor.
I screamed really hard and tears started to run down my cheeks. Lucius glanced at me. He picked up Patty's unconcious body and carried her to the window. His smoky wings appeared on his back and flew out of the room.
I knelt down and cried. My sister was kidnapped by Lucius. I knew she was already dead! I wiped my tears, stood up and walk out the room.
I ran along the corridor and headed for the stairs. At the top of the stairs, I could see Lucius and the Arvhius Army surrounding my father. But how did Lucius get there so fast? My father was bleeding and he looked like someone had beaten him. He was dying. Lucius walked over to him, raised his sword and stabbed him.
I cried again and whispered to myself, "Daddy, pl-please don't die..don't leave me." As I was crying, someone tapped my shoulders and I turned around.
It was my mom, "Lucas, follow me quick!" Mom was holding Dakota's hand who was crying as well.
We ran to mom's room. When we got there, mom pushed the wardrobe to the left and there was a hidden door that has been behind the wardrobe.
"Lucas, lock the door!" I locked the door and went back to mom. She twisted the handle of the door and it opened with a creak. There lied a staircase heading downstairs. We walked down and mom closed the door behind us.
We finally made it to the bottom and I was amazed.
We were standing in an empty room with a floating big glowing ruby at the center.
While wiping my tears I asked nervously, "Mommy, w- what's this?" "This is our only way out of here. We'll be teleported to the Human World through here." "But what if Lucius follows us?" Mom shook her head, "No, we will bring the ruby with us. Now hurry, grab Dakota's hand."
I held my depressed best friend's hand. He was still full of tears. I held my mom's right hand as she grabbed the ruby slowly with her left hand.
The ruby glowed more and the room started shaking as if there were a quake. A light beamed into our eyes and my vision faded...
*****
I rubbed my eyes and opened them one by one. I looked around and let go of Dakota and my mother's grip. We were standing in an empty street. I could see weird looking houses.
A man passed us and stared at our clothes, "Nice costumes guys!" I raised an eyebrow as the man walked away. The three of us were wearing our cloaks. I guess the humans don't wear this on a daily basis. I looked up at my mom.
"Mommy, are we really in the Human World?" She nodded. "Have you been here?" "I've been here a lot, Lucas. The royal family has a safe house here. " She pointed at a big green house at the left side of the street. "Will Dakota live with us?" Mom paused. She stroked Dakota's hair trying to make him feel better but he was still crying. Apparently, The Arvhius killed his family. Mom frowned, "Dakota dear, I am very sorry. But from now on, you'll live here along with Lucas and I, okay honey?" Dakota wiped his tears, "Yes Mrs. Vrixon." "Please, call me mom."
We walked over to our new house and came inside. Only few sorcerers have access to the human world. This house was bought years ago by my grandfather and we keep a lot of sorcery things here. Mom turned on the lights as Lucas and I sat on a couch and went silent not knowing what to do or say.
I ended the silence, "Mom-" I paused and started to cry. "Patty and dad, they're gone.." Mom walked over, hugged me and kissed the top of my head. She hugged Dakota as well. "We will all have a better life here okay? Everything will be fine."
RUBY POV
My vision became blurry and a voice called my name, "Ruby? Can you hear me?"
My eyes are now clearer and I could see Lucas staring at me. I ran a hand on my forehead.
"Ouch, my head." Lucas snapped, "Oh for fuck's sake Ruby. It doesn't hurt that bad, get over it." I grumbled, "Hey! I'm new to these things. Don't be a fucking jerk." Lucas rolled his eyes. "How long was I out?" "About 5 minutes." "Wow really? It felt like days!" Lucas smirked.
"Ephiezora is real fun." Lucas answered not noticing my sarcasm, "It is."
He bent his head down and stared at his coffee. "Lucas?" There was a long pause. "EARTH TO LUCAS!" I shouted. "Oh! Um sorry." I chuckled, "What were you thinking about?" "It's nothing." He unexpectedly burst into laughter as we sipped our coffee.
