Today was the day. Dakota and I have planned this special occasion for a week now, we hoped Lucas would love it.

"Dakota, I'm ready to go!" I shouted as I called him from my phone.

"Okay, I'm gonna pick you up."

I was waiting by my window in my room holding a basket of meals and a rolled picnic mat. It's 20 minutes past seven so the night sky must be near.

About five minutes later, I heard a knock from the window. I opened it up to see a blonde scruffy head from the bottom. It was Dakota, he climbed in my room and bent his knees panting.

"H-hey...Ruby." he greeted still panting.

"You look like you just ran a marathon." I joked grabbing a bottle of water and handing it to him.

"A flying marathon." He corrected accepting the bottle and gulping half of it.

"Didn't know flying is tiring." I shrugged.

"Well, it is! And don't you know how cold it was outside? Brrr..." He protested while cringing.

"Then why weren't you wearing a jacket or something?"

He shrugged. I chuckled and darted across the room to my closet grabbing an oversized red hoodie and an army green bomber jacket. I handed Dakota the hoodie and he put it on as I put on my jacket over my light grey turtleneck top.

Ruby's outfit:

"Ready to go?" Dakota asked cocking an eyebrow

"Ready to go?" Dakota asked cocking an eyebrow.

"Mhm." I nodded putting on my beanie, my bag and grabbing the mat and basket.

"Let me be your flying chauffeur, madam." Dakota joked giving me a hand.

I giggled and took his hand. He helped me out the window and I rounded my spare arm around his tall body as he did too. We soared into the cold night sky as wind blew into us messing up my hair even with the beanie on.

A few minutes passed and the Brooklyn Bridge was finally visible. Dakota lowered us down and we landed at the top of the bridge. I set the mat and the basket over it. I settled the meals for tonight and light up a candle. You might be thinking, won't the wind blow out the flame? Well, with the help of magic, Dakota cast some kind of spell which made the wind stop blowing in our area.

"Alright. Food check, candle check, mat check. We've got one last thing to do left, call Lucas." I explained. "Oh and Dakota? Did you bring the potion?" He nodded as he took out his phone from his pocket and called his buddy.

"Dude, meet me at the spot I told you about yesterday........Yeah......... the bridge Lucas, the bridge......... what? No man, the top.........okay.........No, you're not about to be a wingman for my date...........okay..........bye."

He put his phone away and sighed. "All done."

I nodded, "Okay good. The present is hidden in the basket."

"I'm sure he'll love it." He added flashing a smile.

We've waited for 10 minutes and Lucas finally came. He landed across me his eyes widened.

"Ruby? What are you doing here?" He asked looking around at our little night picnic.

"On a date with you, babe." I flashed a smile while looking over at Dakota who was behind Lucas holding up his potion. I glanced at my watch and looked up at Dakota giving him a wink. He began to open the lid of the potion.

"Lucas?" I began holding both of his hands. "I just wanted to tell you something tonight. You have been the best boyfriend any girl could ever ask for. You mean the world to me and no one has ever made me feel this special. You've showed me so much wonderful beautiful things and you just make me feel so happy all the time. And so tonight, I wanted to repay the happiness you've given me...by kissing you under a million stars."

Dakota finally got the potion out and the sky fell really dark as all the clouds faded away. Millions of shining stars became visible in the sky. The two of us gazed upon the stars in awe and we stared into each others eyes.

"Happy birthday handsome." I whispered. I leaned forward and gave him a really long tender kiss. I finally backed up and added, "I'm so sorry if the little thing I said earlier sounded cheesy." He chuckled and kissed me again.

"Ruby, this is so amazing. Thankyou, very much." He began as we finally finished kissing.

"I wanted to surprise you." I stated as I picked up a cupcake with a 17 shaped candle on it. I handed him the cupcake and he blew out the candle. "Can I eat it now?" He asked smiling. I giggled and nodded as he began munching his cupcake.

I invited Dakota to sit with us on the mat and he did. He sat down next to me still holding his potion. The bottle was half empty, inside was some kind of shiny dark blue liquid.

"Hey, where did you get that?" Lucas asked as he ate the last piece of the cupcake.

"Oh, your mom helped me brew this potion." Dakota replied wiggling the potion.

"This is the best birthday ever. Thanks man, and you too sweetie." He said as he gazed upon the shining stars.

"That's not all!" Dakota shouted as he pointed at the basket. "Take a look inside."

Lucas obeyed him and took out a gift box. He opened it up and revealed a Gryffindor Harry Potter sweater!

"Wow guys, this is awesome. I'm already loving this." He chuckled as he took off his jacket and slipped into the sweater we gave him.

"I'm glad you like it, Lucas." I spoke flashing him a smile.

"Oh, I got you something as well." Lucas shoved his hand into his pocket and took out a small wrapped red box. He handed it to me and I asked, "What's this?" He smirked and answered, "Let's just say it's a little thankyou gift from the birthday boy."

I opened the box and gasped. It was a beautiful sparkling ruby necklace inside. "I-I don't know what to say. This is so beautiful, thankyou."

He nodded and said, "It was my sister's, an original ruby mined from the mines of Trixwerys. Now go put it on."

I took off the necklace I was wearing earlier and put on the ruby necklace. I looked up at Lucas and Dakota who were smiling.

"The Ruby has a ruby on." Dakota chuckled as he ate his plate of spaghetti.

"It looks beautiful on you, Ruby." Lucas said fiddling my hair.

I leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

"This night was perfect guys, it couldn't be better. Best birthday and date ever. But I guess...this will be our last date before Ephiezora babe." Lucas said.

I nodded and sighed. I leaned forward and just kiss him again on the lips under the stars that were shining bright that night.

"Journeying into another realm sounds fantastic, Lucas. Especially when it's a place like Ephiezora."
