"Are you okay? What the flip man, what's so funny?" I cocked an eyebrow. "It's nothing, just a funny thought of something." I looked at him confusingly.
Lucas expressed his gratitude, "Thanks by the way, for looking into my memory." "No problem. But I had to ask, how are you sure your sister is really dead?" I asked Lucas skeptically.
His head was bent down, staring at his cup of coffee. He looked up to answer me and shrugged, "I'm not, my sister could be in the hands of Lucius right now. But there is no way to get her back."
I frowned, "But we have to try."
Lucas bent his head down again disagreeing, "It's too dangerous. Even if we were to save Patricia, Lucius would have pursuaded her to join the army anyway."
I put a hand on his shoulder and said, "Lucas, he's your sister. We should at least try."
Lucas muttered, "I don't know."
I ran my hand to his cheek and rubbed it softly. I could feel his soft and smooth pale skin.
He gripped my arm and smiled, "I admire your courage and ambition. I wish I had them like you do."
He stroked my arm with his gentle fingers tenderly as I murmered, "You've got them in you too, babe."
Lucas flashed a smile and kissed the palm of my hand while I rubbed his cheek.
He let go of his hand as I did too and we finished our coffee silently. After our cups were empty, Lucas stood up from his chair and helped me up. We walked out the coffee shop door and felt the autumn wind blew onto our faces.
"I'll walk you home." Lucas offered. He placed his arm around my neck and pecked my cheek as we walked home together. I was so grateful to have a guy like him in my life.
"Do you miss her?" I asked. Lucas nodded. "What was she like?" He sighed and gazed into my eyes, "She was brave and smart, would've made a wonderful queen. You know, you remind me of her a lot."
Lucas flashed a smile and kissed the corner of my lip. I blushed and kissed him back.
His arm was still around my neck as we walked cheerfully along the street. He let his arm go for a few times and decided to run ahead of me and do a bunch of magic spells. He changed the color of my hair once and made it blonde. I shrieked with anger and shoved him towards a wall. He then changed my hair back to how it was.
"Lucas, can you carry me?" He frowned, "What, you tired or somethin'?" "No, I just wanna see if you've got strength. Come on, carry me. No magic is allowed to be used!"
He swung his broad arms behind my body and I rested my back in his arms. He was carrying me like a baby. He didn't even feel my weight.
"Oh my gosh, you don't think I'm heavy?" I cried out still on his arms. "Nope, it's just like carrying a feather." I chuckled, "YAY, I think I've lost some weight!" Lucas smirked, "Or, I'm just really strong."
I hit his face playfully and he dropped me down gently. "It feels nice when you carry me." I blushed. "You've got feet, Ruby. Walk on your own." He teased. We both burst into laughter.
After the not-so-short walk, we finally caught a sight of my house a few houses away.
"Come to my house at 5 later. I'll pick you up." I nodded and Lucas left me as I stood on the doorstep. I went inside and headed upstairs to my room.
I took off my sweater, jeans and boots and threw myself to the bed only in my underwear and bra. I rolled myself in the blanket and passed out.
Looking through a memory is exhausting! I needed a good sleep.
