Recap: Curiosity ALWAYS gets the best of me, so...
"Gaara?"
Gaara's POV
"Gaara?" I froze at the familiar voice.
I turned my body slightly, moving just enough so I could see her. The small features on her pale face never left my shadowed figure. For some reason, I sensed no fear radiating off of her. All I sensed was curiosity. And... Concern. She was concerned about me.
I didn't answer her, but I made some sort of effort to get the crazed look off of my face. I didn't really succeed, though.
I tilted my head, imagining how satisfying it would be to wrap my sand around her delicate neck, making it slither around her and cut off her airways. My sand... Stained with the crimson goodness of her blood. How simple it would be to take her life... Especially now, when I feel unstable.
But I couldn't take her life. This girl in front of me wasn't like those two shinobi I had killed earlier. Her life meant more than theirs did.
And I couldn't explain why.
Love... I don't love. But in order to know that I don't love, I must one time experience love in my life. It's never happened, though. At least... Not until I met Minxie.
Does that mean I love her? No, it can't. I can't. Besides, she's already dating...
Uchiha.
I growled slightly, feeling the crazed look return to my face. Once I killed him, once I killed Uchiha, I'd be able to feel alive again.
"Gaara..." That voice. That voice... The one that I can't kill.
I knew she was waiting for an answer. But the only reply I gave her was, "Stay away from me."
Minxie blinked her emerald eyes, as if she wasn't expecting that. "What... Why?" She asked. Slowly, she began reaching her right hand out to me, ready to put it on my arm...
But I didn't let her. I grabbed her wrist roughly before it could make contact with my skin. I held her wrist so tightly that I was surprised she didn't wince. If I applied only a bit more pressure, I could snap her wrist. I was more then ready to do just that, until something caught my eye.
Her bracelet. She kept... She kept the charm I gave her...
She needed to get away from me, fast. "Because if you don't... You'll die," I growled at her, my eyes meeting hers.
The urge to kill become more of a necessity, I released her wrist and turned around. But before I could completely escape, I heard her whisper, "Be careful, Gaara..."
It took everything I had not to turn back around.
I finished going down the remainder of the steps, ready to take on Sasuke Uchiha and verify my existence.
Minxie's POV
"Oh! Minx! You're here! I thought you were gonna miss Sasuke's match," Kylie exclaimed. She sat behind Ino, Sakura, and Choji, with Mitchell and Josh on either side of her.
"Wouldn't wanna do that..." I muttered, trying to sound all cheerful. Yeah... I didn't sound convincing at all. First, I've got this creepy copy of me who shows up whenever I look at myself in the mirror. Second, Sasuke's all up-tight that I have a charm on my bracelet from Gaara. Third... It's just Gaara in general.
I looked down at the match, letting out a breath that I didn't realize I had been holding when the proctor shouted, "Begin!"
Gaara's sand began to swirl out of his gourd, but then, he clutched his head in pain. "Please... Please don't be so angry... Mother..." He hissed, clutching his throbbing head.
