You can come to my place and sleep on the couch
Lots of people do it and we won't leave you out
Hard times out on the street
Hard times, hard to beat

Alex's head lay in Ran's lap in the backseat of Bristol's mauve 1980's car. It was now 3 in the morning, and Bristol's eyelids stuck barely open as she tried to keep her eyes on the road. They were on their way back to their homes from the theatre, and every now and then the young girl couldn't help but look at Ran and Alex through the rearview mirror and smile.

Alex wasn't wearing a seatbelt as he was literally lying down on his side in the backseat. His eyes were closed, and his chest and abdomen were rising and falling slowly as he breathed through his diaphragm. However, Ran was sat like one would normally sit. His back was against the seat and his seatbelt was buckled. He played with a few strands of Alex's hair, massaging his scalp.

Alex wasn't sleeping, but he was on the verge of going into dreamland very soon. Ran's calloused hands running through his hair and the gentle hum of the radio certainly weren't helping, but he couldn't be bothered. He shifted slightly, getting more comfortable on the leather of the backseats. To most people, laying on someone's jean cladded lap wouldn't have been too comfortable. But he was so exhausted that the world actually seemed so distant. The feel of the leather seats and Ran's fingers running through his hair became faint, and so did the engine of the 1981 Toyota Cressida.

Ran was also on the verge of closing his eyes. He wouldn't've minded sleeping in the backseat at all, especially if Alex were there with him. The blond's head lay limp against the glass window. He lazily watched the street lights and the oncoming cars pass by as they continued to drive.

He looked down at the brunet who was still laying in his lap. There was no doubt in his mind that the younger boy was now sleeping. His eyelids always remained closed, his abdomen and chest were rising and falling slowly, and his lips were slightly parted. To the blond, the younger boy looked absolutely adorable. But quite frankly, he always thought he looked cute.

It wasn't until the car came to a halt that the older male looked up. He glanced out the window, seeing that they were parked in the driveway of a rather large house.

"Wake Alex up, and tell him he's home." Bristol said, yawning as she spoke.

Upon hearing the girl speak, Ran couldn't help but think about how Alex often times didn't call his residence 'home.' But nonetheless, he nodded and shook the brunet's shoulder lightly.
Alex must've been a light sleeper, because it was only a few seconds later that he stirred in his sleep and his eyes opened.

"'Lex, you're home." The blond cooed.

The shorter male sat up in his seat. He rubbed his eyes and looked out the window, seeing his unnecessarily large house in front of him. He groaned in distaste at the sight of it. He dreaded the way that house made his stomach churn.

"What's wrong?" Ran asked, his eyes gleaming with concern.

Alex smiled tiredly at his new (and technically first) significant other. He looked over to Bristol, who had turned around in her seat to look at both boys.

"What's up, you goober?" She smiled, hoping the humorous name would help the boy's mood.

"Is it ok if you can drive me to my brother's apartment?" He asked, looking hopeful.

"Is Jesse even awake?"

"I don't know. Probably. I'll call him and check."

Bristol nodded, before she reversed out of the driveway and back onto the road. Alex tiredly took out his phone, scrolled through his contacts, and dialled Jesse's number.
