We're going down this road
With tears in our rear view mirror.
Far from home,
But in the dark, you'll know,
With me you've got nothing to fear.
So let's runaway

"Oh my god, why is it so early?" Alex groaned tiredly. He watched as Ran stuffed the last of their luggage into the trunk of his impala.
The older male laughed at Alex's childishness. After packing away all their suitcases and winter items, he closed the trunk. He walked over to the brunet with a small smile plastered on his face, and kissed the top of his head lightly.
"It's not that early." He chuckled softly. "And it's not like you can't sleep in the car."
"It's bloody 6 in the morning!" The boy whined. Most people would've been fed up with Alex's complaining by then, but for whatever reason, Ran only seemed to find it adorable and absolutely amusing.
Ran chuckled again, and brought Alex closer to him by grabbing his hips. "You can sleep in the car, baby." He offered. "You can even take the seatbelt off."
"Oh, that's so cute how you thought I was going to wear a seatbelt in the first place." The brunet teased. A smile played his lips for the first time that morning.
Ran rolled his eyes. "Whatever, just get in the car. We have a long way to drive."
Alex nodded, and situated himself in the passenger seat. It was now December 26th, a day after Christmas meaning that Ran and Alex were getting ready to leave. Ran had driven to Alex's place earlier in the morning to help the boy with his luggage. The ski resort was about a 5 hour drive, and Ran had already entered the address into the GPS. The elder opened his door and sat down in the driver's seat. He shivered in the cold leather seats and immediately turned on the heat. The car had already been turned on 15 minutes prior so that the engine could warm up, so he wasted no more time in swerving out of the driveway and onto the road.
The blond smiled in adoration when he felt Alex lay his head on his shoulder. He took one of his hands off the steering wheel to wrap his arm around the boy's shoulder. The brunet sighed in content, and snuggled down further into his boyfriend's warmth.
"What time did you go to sleep last night, baby?" Ran asked suddenly, stroking Alex's arm.
"I don't know," the younger yawned "probably somewhere around 2 in the morning."
"What? That means you only got 4 hours of sleep."
"Yeah, I know." He shrugged.
"How come you're so sleep deprived?"
"Because you're talking to me while I'm trying to have a nap on your shoulder." Alex countered. A playful tone of voice lingered in his words.
The elder of the two rolled his eyes, but a frolicsome grin adorned his face. "You're ridiculous."
"I believe the word you're looking for is 'fabulous'" Alex said matter-of-fact.
"Oh? Who titled you 'king of vocabulary'?"
"Your mom."
Ran scoffed ironically, and couldn't help but to roll his eyes again. However, a small smile stayed painted on his face, and the two boys fell into a comfortable silence. Since it was 6 in the morning during December, it was still dark outside. The radio was softly humming an old David Bowie song, and Alex's head still lay peacefully on Ran's shoulder. His surroundings seemed so calm and relaxed, that he hadn't realized how tired he really had been until that point. He sighed contently, before asking his boyfriend a rather odd question.
