CHAPTER NINE!!

(This chapter has been edited for mistakes)

---Luke's POV---

I woke to the sun beating at my face through the window. My side was warm, and as I looked down, I saw Lydia curled up into it, rolled up in the blankets. She looked so cute. As soon as I thought that, she groaned a bit and opened her eyes.

"Good morning, gorgeous," I said softly. She murmured a good morning back and snuggled even deeper into my side.

I smiled and ran my fingers through her hair.

We lay like that for at least an hour before a voice yelled at us from downstairs.

"Nikki! Lydia! Come down! I made breakfast!"

I looked at Lydia.

"Who's that?" I asked.

"Nikki's mom," she said, a bit scared. "She wasn't here yesterday. She had to work. Oh, crap. What are we going to do?" She sat up, untangling herself from the duvet and stood.

"Well, let's go face the music," I said. She just looked at me like I was crazy.

"We might not have a problem," she told me. "Just act normal."

I nodded and stood up with her. I quickly kissed her forehead and ran ahead, her following with a giggle.

"Except that. Don't do that."

I reached the bottom of the stairs and turned to Lydia and told her to jump. She looked at me scared for a second before jumping. I caught her and spun her around as we both laughed.

"Girls! Are you coming or not?" Nikki's mom called. We both looked at each other before racing to the kitchen.

Lydia beat me by a few seconds and stuck her tongue out at me.

We grabbed plates and a couple pieces of French Toast that Nikki's mom had made.

"Thanks Mrs. Carsons," Lydia said, covering her French Toast with syrup.

"Yeah, thanks mom," I told her, putting peanut butter on mine as I waited for Lydia to get done with the syrup.

"Good?" Nikki's mom asked, resting her hand on my head. I almost flinched from the unexpected touch, but held it back.

"Yes," Lydia said, after swallowing a bite. I snatched the syrup and put it over my peanut butter covered French Toast, then took a huge bite and shoved it into my mouth.

"Really good," I moaned.

"Nikki, swallow. It's rude to talk with food in your mouth," Nikki's mom chastised.

"But I'm at home. No one here cares," I said after swallowing this time.

"True..." she mumbled, thinking. "Just don't do it on dates. Guys don't like that kind of thing."

I snorted, before cracking up laughing. Nikki's mom shook her head, smiling, and walked away to finish what was left of the French Toast.

Lydia looked at her, shocked that we had just pulled off probably the hardest case of stolen identity ever. Nikki's mom didn't even realize I wasn't Nikki.

"Wow," Lydia muttered.

I just kept eating and after a few moments, Lydia did too.

We finished retry quickly and washed our plates before going back upstairs.

"Okay, I have to leave at like 8 today. Dad wants me home before 9. So, I'm going to try and teach you everything you have to do to be Nikki without me. First off, style," she said, going to the closet and opening it.

"You pretty much have it down, but if you need any help, call me. Her style is pretty simple: skinnies and a tank or t-shirt. Nothing frilly. No pink. Lots of blacks and blues."

She moved a few things around and showed me what she had done.

"I arranged a few outfits. Skinnies, shirt, repeat. And that's all you have to do. Wear them in order and you should be good for a few days. I'll be over again on Saturday. It's Wednesday now, so that leaves you three days without me."

She left the closet and moved to the vanity.

"Make-up. Usually just something simple. I'll help you learn in a few minutes."

She grabbed Nikki's iPod, then.

"The password is 'mike' in numbers," she said. "She usually has it with her and almost always has at least one earbud in. Seeing as you like the same music, or All Time Low at least, you shouldn't have a problem with that. She also sings along a lot. So, make sure you do that."

She tossed the iPod on the bed.

"Nikki doesn't have any siblings, so you don't have to act around them. No dad, but that means she's close to her mom even though she works a lot. She's a business manager for some big company I can't remember the name of. So, you will be alone a lot. Today was one of her off days. Usually she gets Wednesdays off. Sometimes Thursdays, but not tomorrow."

She looked around some more before shrugging.

"I guess that's it."

Surprisingly, I understood and got everything she said. The only thing I was worried about was the make-up.

Wait...

"Did you say it was Wednesday?" I asked. Oh, no.

"Yeah... Why?"

"Michael and I have writing to do today! Shit!" I started pacing, practically ripping hair out of my head.

"Well, Nikki writes stories, and sometimes she writes song lyrics..." Lydia said, trying to calm me down.

"But we finished the lyrics a few days ago. We were working on the instrument stuff!" I exclaimed. "Where is Nikki's phone. I have to call her."

Lydia handed it to me, a bit reluctant, and I quickly dialed the number.

"Hello?" a voice answered. It wasn't my voice, my real voice. It was Michael.

Shit. Why did he have my phone?

"Uh, hi."

"Who's this?" he asked.

"Uhh, Nikki," I told him.

"Wait, like, Nikki Nikki?"

"What?"

"Luke?"

"Yeah?"

"It's you!? Mate! Why didn't you call earlier?"

"Michael, what?"

"Never mind. I have to go. Soundcheck. I'll make sure to call later. Promise. And Nikki is doing fine. Bye," he said, hanging up.

I just stood there, confused as to what had just happened.

"So,..." Lydia trailed asking what had gone on.

"He hung up. Michael answered and hung up. Said they had soundcheck to go to."

"That's not bad right? If Nikki is playing for you, that means its all good, right?"

"I guess..." I said slowly.

"Then don't worry. It will work out," she tried to reassure me.

But it didn't help. What had gone on? Michael sounded like he knew. No, he definitely knew.

What was going on over there!?
