Chapter Nineteen

---Luke's POV---

I collapsed on the couch in the living room when I had finally made my way back inside. 

It had only been around fifteen minutes since Lydia had left, but I already missed her. 

Sighing, I laid down and closed my eyes, just thinking. 

What was I going to do without her? I knew I couldn't fake being Nikki for long. I would need help. 

I frowned, my eyes still closed. Lydia did say that my personality was like Nikki's, except that she was more outgoing than I am. 

I sighed again, opening my eyes and staring at the ceiling. Something buzzed in my pocket. 

I sat up a bit to reach it, and pulled out Nikki's phone. I had forgotten that Lydia gave it to me. 

Opening the text, I saw it was from Lydia. 

'how u holdin up?' 

I fumbled around with the unfamiliar phone for a few minutes before finally sending a reply. 

'idk im freakin out' 

Shoving the phone back into my pocket, I relaxed back into the couch. Once again, my worried thoughts crashed around my mind like waves. I didn't have time to contemplate them, as the phone vibrated again. 

'y? wats wrong?' was Lydia's reply. 

This time, I was able to answer back quicker. 

'just worried wat if her mom notices?' 

Another vibration. I didn't even get to lay back. 

'she wont. just b u. oh and b a bit sarcastic but not like mean, like funny' 

I sighed. This was so complicated. 

'y cant we just tell her?' 

'cuz it wudnt work. Either she wudnt blieve us, or she wud and she wud freak' 

'I just dont no if I can do this' I told her. 

'dont worry bout it. ull do fine.' 

I was able to send another message just as I heard the door open and shut. 

'I hope so' 

"Nikki?" a voice called. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was her mom. 

"In here," I called, stuffing the phone back into my pocket, ignoring it as it vibrated again. 

She walked into the room to find me on the couch. 

"Did Lydia leave?" she asked, looking around. 

"Yeah, around half an hour ago," I told her. 

"Oh, okay," she replied. "Well, let me put my stuff in my office and we can do something, okay?" I nodded and she walked out. 

Pulling out Nikki's phone again, I checked the message Lydia sent. 

'it will be okay. Just remember something... ;)' 

I quickly replied with: 

'and whats that?' 

A few seconds later, the phone buzzed again.
