When Ana came walking down the stairs to meet Zach she was smiling really big and looked gorgeous. Ana walked into the living room where her family was all gathered around Zach and talking to each other. Zach stood up when he saw Ana standing there in the doorway. His mouth dropped open slightly because he couldn't believe how beautiful she looked at that moment. He quickly walked over to greet her as Ana's family watched the two of them awkwardly interact with one another in front of them.

Ana grabbed Zach by the hand and asked if she could speak with him outside and then turned to her family and waved and blew a kiss goodbye to them all. Mrs. Grant made a comment about how completely adorable the pair of them were together. She thought that they were so innocent and clumsy in love with each other but too shy to tell the other one how they really felt. They all chuckled and teased them as they left the room.

Once they were outside, Zach ran up to his car and opened up Ana's door to help her get in. Her family peeked out the window as if they were still spying on them and watched until the car drove away. Zach drove carefully down the driveway because he was still thinking about what Ana's mom spoke to him about earlier.

Ana still had no idea that Zach had talked with her family about her or that he wanted her to be his girlfriend. Ana was trying to figure out when would be a good time for her to take her mother's advice and tell Zach exactly how she was feeling about him. Her mother never told her about the conversation with Zach because she wanted Zach and Ana to speak to each other about their own feelings.

At first the two of them sat there quietly in the car as they drove down the road. Then Zach decided to be the first to break the silence and ask Ana how she was doing and if she was nervous about something. Zach could tell Ana was nervous because she was sitting there with her hands folded in her lap and was biting her bottom lip. Ana had apologized to Zach for making him wait so long for her to get ready because they didn't get to leave her house until 10:30 a.m. He told her that he didn't mind at all because it gave him the opportunity to speak with her family.

Ana was curious about what was being said and begged Zach to tell her what her family said to him. She was embarrassed because she thought that maybe her family was giving him a hard time about going out with her. Zach told her that he thought her family was really cool and he could tell that they loved her a lot and wanted to protect her. Ana still couldn't figure out why her mother agreed to let her go with Zach alone and why Zach was smiling so much.

They both nervously flirted with each other and joked around all the way to the festival. Both of them were still trying to think about how they were going to tell the other one how they felt. Instead they chose to talk about everything else but their feelings for each other.
