It was the morning of the Founder's Day festival and Zach wanted to ask Ana to be his girlfriend that night. He was very nervous and didn't know how he should approach the situation so he went to his dad and asked him for his advice on the matter. Zach's dad was surprised by his son's seriousness about this girl Ana.

Zach knew that his father and Ana's grandfather were business partners and wanted to make sure that he didn't mess anything up for their families. His dad told him that once upon a time before he married Zach's mother he had seriously dated Lisa for years and they were high school sweethearts. He was even going to ask her to marry him when they graduated but he made the mistake of letting her go.

Zach was totally shocked by his father's story because he always assumed that his mother was his dad's first serious girlfriend. His dad continued to explain that he was going through a rebellious stage in his life and she wanted to serve God and do mission work but he didn't want to go with her. That's when they went their own separate ways and she moved down to Miami and eventually married a Pastor down there. Zach couldn't imagine his father being rebellious in any way, he always seemed so spiritual and strong in his faith. His dad told him that if was really serious about this girl, Ana, and then he needed to do the proper thing by asking her family's permission to date her first.

"Trust me when I tell you son, Mr. Grant is very old fashioned and I'm sure his daughter Lisa will expect the same treatment as well." He continued to explain to Zach.

"The only person you need to be worried about impressing is her grandfather. If he approves of you then I reckon you'll be allowed to date his granddaughter, if not, well then you better forget about her son."

He chuckled as he saw how nervous his son looked at him. Zach just rubbed the sweat off of his hands on his jeans and looked as if he just saw a ghost. He's never had to ask a girl's parents or grandparents for that matter if he could date her. Zach had wondered if this was really necessary because after all Ana did tell him that her mom agreed to let them go to the dance together as long as her brother was with them. He thanked his dad for his advice and went to his room to practice what he was going to say to them and how he should first greet them.
