Legacy's P.O.V.
It was awful. Prowl will never be the same. He lost his leg in the explosion. The medics did everything they could for it with what they had, which wasn't much. He was going to have to have a crutch to get around from now on. He didn't wake up when we were there. He had stayed asleep the entire time.
Now, Dad and I were on the shuttle back to Iacon. I was ready to get home. I wanted to go to bed and not think. Just go to sleep. My dad sat across from me, he was looking out the window at the passing scenery. When his optics flicked over to me, I averted my eyes. He made me feel small. I felt like I wasn't good enough.
"Legacy?" He spoke up. I look back over to him.
"Yeah?" I answer.
"I...I want to apologize to you." His words shocked me. What happened to the sparkless mech I have been living with for the past few months?
"I haven't treated you well and I'm sorry for not being there for you." He said. His simple words made tears come to my eyes.
"I just... I can't look at you without thinking about Emma or Orion and how I couldn't save you when Shockwave did this to you." He gestured to my body, tears slipping from his eyes.
I was crying too. I was really surprised that he was doing this. I had lost my respect for my father when he yelled at me for asking about Mom. Now, I felt like I could understand why. I wouldn't want to talk about it either. I don't want to talk or think about what I saw that day. It haunts my dreams. I never seem to be rid of the memories, not matter how hard I try to build a new life.
"I forgive you." I respond. The corner of his mouth quirks up in a sad smile. I get up out of my seat, cross the aisle, and sit next to my Dad. He wraps an arm around my shoulders and I lean on him, closing my eyes.
I was on Earth. It was a bright, sunny day. The sun warmed my skin and laughter surrounded me. I was running around in the grass of the picnic spot, Orion chasing me in a game of tag. Mom and Dad were watching us from under the shade of the tree. Ellie was snapping at dragonflies in the grass. It was a perfect day.
"I got you!" Orion screamed as he slapped my back. I turn around to see him flying off in the opposite direction.
"Get back here you butthole!" I call after him, giving chase.
"You're a butthole!" He taunted.
"You're a bigger one!" I fire back.
The dreams skipped around wildly to my happier memories.
I was in the Jeep with Mom and Orion, her cursing on the phone with Dad. Daddy had to stay over at the base and forgot to tell Mom, which resulted in Dad getting chewed out because she had to change plans.
"Ooooh, Dad's in trouble!" Orion taunted, loud enough for Dad to hear over the phone.
"Damn right he is." Mom agreed, making us giggle. We thought it was funny how Dad got in trouble for the simplest things, like getting us fast food, putting old, unused diapers from our infancy on Ellie as a joke, or forgetting to stir the cream of wheat, resulting in it being all clumpy.
Mom was never really mad at him though.
The dream lasted only a few seconds before a new one started.
Operation: Arctic brassiere. Dad, Orion, and I were sneaking around the house to gather all of Mom's bras. We found them in dirty laundry, the bathroom, her closet. We finally collected them all and we met up in the kitchen.
"Okay, we need to soak them all in the sink." Dad ordered. Orion and I stood on our tippy toes running them beneath the water until they were soaking wet. Dad bent and twisted them in awkward positions before he stuck them in the freezer.
A few hours later, Mom emerged from the bedroom with messy hair and her sleep clothes on.
"Smoke, where are all my bras?" She questioned tiredly. Orion and I giggle and her yellow eyes flick over to us.
"What did you do?" She groaned. She moved to go back into the hall.
"Colder." Dad said. That stopped her. She turned around walking back into the living room.
"Warmer." He drawled. After a few more 'warmers', she was in the kitchen.
"You're hot!" He called. She was standing right next to the fridge.
"I know." She joked, making Dad chuckle and Orion and I gag.
She finally opened the freezer and we heard a gasp.
"Smokescreen!" She yelled angrily, holding up a bra frozen solid in an awkward position.
::Totally worth it.:: We all agreed.
