Smokescreen's P.O.V.
I was patrolling the triage, looking glumly at all the sick. They were all hemorrhaging or their systems were shutting down. It was awful. It was the end of my shift and I was ready to go home. I hear pounding footsteps behind me and I turn to see Jolt running up to me. He seemed to have more energy today than he's had in a week. His optics were bright and there was a certain pep in his step.
"Smokescreen! I have good news. Great news!" He panted. "We've found a cure!" He said triumphant. I look at him wide eyed and I urge him to explain.
Legacy's P.O.V.
I heard the door start to hiss open and I feel my spark fill with fear, looking at Sunstreaker next to me.
"Hide!" I hiss, standing up as my father walks through the door.
"Daddy! You're home early." I say happily, but inside I was terrified.
"Yeah. They didn't need me tonight." He sighed, moving to the lounge.
"I was meaning to ask you when you got home, there was something I saw in the galley and it sort of looked like a scraplet was gnawing on one of cabnets. Could you go look at it?" I say. His optics widen and he marched to the galley. I look behind me to see Sunstreaker peaking his head out from above the couch. I wave at him to go to my room and he does a curt nod. I follow Dad into the kitchen to catch him as he was coming out.
"Did you see it?!" I ask. He shakes his head.
"Lemme show you." I drag him back into the galley and point at a chip that Sunstreaker had done on accident when he came in here.
"Nah, that's no scraplet bite. Lets go in the lounge and watch a movie." He said. I nod, walking out ahead of him to see no sign that Sunny was ever even in here. Sunny?! I just called him Sunny...in my head.
I round the corner and see that there were two empty cubes and one was half-full. Oh no!
"Legacy, you're never this messy. Go throw those away and finish that one." Dad said.
"Okay Dad." I say. Taking the empty cubes to the trash and grabbing the other one. I only drank the one during the entire day. If I finish this one, it'll give me a stomach ache. And I don't really wanna drink after Sunstreaker.
"I gotta go grab something from my room real quick." I say, scurrying down the hall. I bust through the door, startling the twins. I thrust the cube into Sunstreaker's servos.
"Finish that real quick. My Dad expects me to drink all that, but I can't, so hurry up." I order. He gives me a glare before he threw his helm back, chugging the energon. I can't help but to stare at his neck and how there was a lump in his throat the bobbed up and down with every swallow.
I take the cube from him when he's done and I grab my sketch book and a pen before I head back into the lounge, tossing the cube and sitting with my book and Dad.
Dad turned on news reports and I went ahead and looked for a blank page, only to find the most beautiful drawings I had ever seen. They were so real... So vivid. They weren't mine.
I concluded that Sunny had made them. The detail was unreal. It was perfection. It was of the barracks. There were mechs laughing, sipping energon, joking around. There was one of Sides welding on a building project. I flipped the page and I really look at this one.
It was me. And it was exactly right. I was leaning over my other sketches, working on my shading. He drew my furrowed optic-brows, and the white circle in the middle of my optic. He got my armor just right, the small scratches and flaws. He even drew a patch of hair in the back of my head and I reach a hand up and felt around the back of my helm, finding the hair. I smile to myself, tucking it back under the helmet.
He drew my servos particularly detail. Every knuckle, crevice, the shading... it was all so perfect. He was so talented. I felt a lump in my throat and I swallow it down. My feelings for him were growing. And for Sideswipe. After caring for him for so long and seeing what affect he has on his brother, it touched my spark. I bring a hand up to rub my neck and the skin there was warm.
I wanted to go in there and just be in there with them. But for their sake, I had to act normal around Dad.
"Hey! I forgot to tell you. They found a cure for the plague. All you have to do is filter their energon. It's spread through energon contact and that was the clue they needed. How simple is that? Its kinda sad that all these people have died and the solution was something so easy." He shrugged. I looked at him wide eyed. That's all it took?!
It explained why I didn't get infected. My blood isn't all energon. The organic part of me must have been the reason why I wasn't infected. It also made sense now that Sides hadn't died. We were giving him so much energon, the virus probably was taking time to catch up to him. I just can't believe it. I needed to tell the twins.
"That's fantastic..." I breathe.
Sunstreaker's P.O.V.
She took the sketch book that I had been using. I drew that picture of her in it. I can easily say that that was some of my best work. I stayed up all night drawing that. Using only the light from my optics.
After she shared her story with us, Sideswipe and I were flustered. We were the only Bots she had told that to? We were never trusted with stuff. We were the terror twins!
But, she trusted us enough to let us in her home, give us her energon, and share that with us. We didn't know what to think.
::I think I like her.:: Sides said. He was lying on the berth and I was sitting on the ground, leaning back on it, with my elbows resting on my knees, waiting for her to come back in.
::Me too...:: I say.
