Legacy's P.O.V.
It had been a year since Sunstreaker left. Since I got my job. Since Dad and I bonded. I kept it blocked most of the time, feeling more distant from him than ever. After that, I decided to save my credits for my own housing.
Now was that time. I had to hire some Bots to help me move my things. Mainly the art on my walls because all housing came with it's own furniture.
I was renting a one bedroom housing unit in a tenement. It was on the fourth floor and the second door on the right from the elevator. It was bare when I went there. I had a lounge and galley that were the same room. There was a desk in the corner. There was a short hall with three doors. The left was the washroom, the right was my berthroom, and the last door on the end was a closet.
It was inbetween the museum and Enforcer tenements and short walking distance from both. It was a little farther to the barracks, but I rarely went over there. Sides would have to find his way over here after work.
I was settling in. I had three keys made, one for me, Sides, and Dad. I have been working on decorating this morning, having a day off. I worked hard for the last year to do this and I was going to make it my own. I hung Earth art, Sunny's art, and one that we did together of Iacon city. The shading was just right and the two Suns seemed to glow.
I hear a knock on the door and I go to open it when Sides walked through. He was fairing better now that he had time to proccess. I had been there for him for many of his breakdowns and made sure that he knew I was there for him.
"You're settling in nicely. Got your own TV and everything." He moved to grab the remote and he turned on the reports. He was different now. He didn't have his usual witty humor, nor carefree attitude.
He was resting his hands on the back of the couch leaned over it and watching the TV. His shiny red armor had dulled this past year as well as his optics. He wasn't the same Sideswipe as he was a couple of years ago. When Sunstreaker left, part of Sideswipe left too.
"Yeah." I hum, moving toward him at a brisk pace. He knew what was coming and I leaped into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck, kissing him hard. He propped my butt up on the top of the couch and I smile into our kiss before pulling away. Just because he was different didn't mean he was any less affectionate.
"I can't believe that I did it. I honestly never thought this day would come." I sigh. He gave me a small smile.
"You can do anything." He said, kissing my forehead. I remembered when Sunstreaker was in prison and when they wouldn't let us kiss, so he kissed my forehead instead.
"I loved this one." Sides said, gesturing to one of Sunny's pieces. In fact, it was the one of Earth. The swing set, the tall grass, Ellie... It almost brought a tear to Sideswipe's optic. It was amazing how such a simple, yet beautiful thing could pull someone's heartstrings like that. In this case sparks.
"You wanna help me finish unpacking?" I ask. He nods and got to work with the paintings and photographs. I had a lot printed out of both sets of twins, mainly Sides and Sunny, me and my brother, and my family and friends.
I found one of when I first found out that Dad was an alien and I had a happy grin on my face. Orion was there too and he was displaying a confused expression.
My home was everything I imagined it. I moved to the berthroom, setting up my nightstand with some of my datapads and my desk with my work ones. My job was one that you had to take home with you. I was constantly doing research on The Great War and I found it enjoyable.
I hear another knock at the door, but I was busy with scrubbing the washroom down. I was the third owner of this apartment and I wasn't too sure how clean it was.
"Sides, would you mind getting that?" I call. I hear him call back with a sassy answer and I smile to myself.
"It's your sire!" He calls and I sigh, standing up and putting my cleaning materials away. I walk out and I see Dad standing in the doorway glaring at Sides. I move in front of Sideswipe and I swing the door open all the way, moving to the side for Dad to come in.
"This is nice." Dad comments.
"Thanks. You want some energon?" I ask.
"No." He said, moving to the painting of our picnic spot. "This is perfect Legacy." He says in awe.
"It was actually Sunstreaker who painted it. He did it for me on our first date." I say. Dad's azure optics flick to mine and I feel sadness seep through our bond. Now he felt bad about his relentless pursuit for Sunstreaker. After we bonded, he felt everything. I felt everything.
I wasn't close with him anymore. You'd think after the bond we'd be completely in sync, but this wasn't the case. I resented him now more than ever for leaving me alone all those years. He knew how I felt and I knew how he felt, but that couldn't change the past.
"You almost done unpacking?" He asks. I nod.
"I just gotta do some clean up and hang the rest of my paintings." I say. I saw The Kiss propped up on the wall and my mind wandered on where I was going to put it.
"You need any help?" He asks.
"Um, sure. You could help me clean the washroom." I say. "I just started it, but I have some other things I need to do." I say.
I had pictures to hang, cubes to put in the galley, a berthroom to decorate.... The list went on.
"Alright, I'll finish it." He says. I point him to the washroom and I hear the bottles spritzing on the walls.
Sides and I share a knowing look and we both set off to do our thing. I had told him about my sire's poor timing with renewing the bond. I told him about how I was angry at him for it and needed to get away. Cleaning the washroom can be a "punishment" of sorts.
