So my favorite ballet move is the fouetté turns. And yes, I spelled that correct. Fouetté, the literal translation is to whip. If you don't know what fouetté are, do me a favor, go to YouTube and search Black Swan fouetté. Yeah, that's my favorite move. I'm not to bad at them either. The trick is to work with the muscle memory. It took me a long time to strengthen my muscles so they can be strong enough to do as many as I can do now. I'm very proud of my fouetté.
I have a story for you about my fouetté and it's a little sad though.
I was rehearsing for the role of Lead Flower Soloist during the Waltz of the Flowers (Nutcracker).
I was doing fouetté and I was really on a roll. I turned 30 fouetté and it was exhausting. When I landed, I expected my teacher to say something. Nope, she complimented the girl next to me.
Frustrated, I left the studio to get water. I tried to calm down and I reminded myself that while my ballet teacher may not have noticed my turns, God did and he was happy and proud of me and I guess, in the long shot, isn't that what really matters?
