Luke's POV

I walked down the hall on my way to PE saying hey here and there. As I walked into the gym I saw Kayla sitting in the bleachers, but she didn't look like the happy Kayla I'm used too. She looked sad? Her hair was in its natural wave, she had no makeup on, sweats, and her running shoes. I made my way to where she was sitting and sat down next to her. "Hey Kem... you okay?" I asked quietly she gave me a blank looked and shrugged. "What's going on?" I asked getting worried. "Tim cheated on mom and she found out. Now there's problems and they were fighting all night." She said rubbing her eyes tiredly. I nodded not know what to say. "Yo! Luke let's go its football today!" Cody yelled i looked at Kayla "You gonna play?" She shrugged in response. "I'm gonna go change. See you in a bit." She nodded and walked to the girls locker room as I went to the guys.

"What are you doing man?" Cody asked as we walked to the field with the class. "Walking?" I said gesturing to my moving feet. "No shit. I meant with Kayla. What are you doing? You know you can't have her." He said as if it was the most obvious thing ever. "Yeah, yeah I know. I'm just trying to get on her good side to get in her pants." I said regretting it right away. "Ah that's my boy!" He said smacking my back. I chuckled playing it cool. Throughout class I kept seeing Kayla stick to herself and ignore the girls in the class. God I'm an idiot, Cody's right I won't be able to have her. I thought to myself as I walked to my next class.

As I walked into lunch I didn't see Kayla. "Hey Jackie. Where's Kayla?" I asked sitting down at our table. "She wasn't feeling well I guess. She left halfway through third block." She said playing on her phone. I nodded and went about taking to Cody and Derek.

"Mr. Wilson, this is your 10 tardy. You missed your last detention so now you have Saturday detention with Principle Brooks." The teacher said as I walked into the class 15 minutes late. I shrugged taking my seat in the back winking at a couple girls that were staring at me; making them blush and giggle.

Kayla's POV
I sat in my room wrapped up in a blanket staring out my window. Tim's staying in a hotel, mom's depressed, Tim's threatening to take Jacob with him if mom divorces him, I have a C in honors biology, and to make everything even better (note sarcasm) I'm on my period. This is just not my week. I sighed hearing a knock. "Who is it?" "It's me baby." Mom said softly opening the door. "I think you, me, and Jacob need to have a talk." I nodded standing up and following her to the living room where Jacob was sitting.

I sat next to him and mom sat on the coffee table in front of us. She took a deep breath and rubbed her face with her hands. "Okay... as you guys know Tim has been sleeping with his secretary." Her voiced cracked. "And I've been thinking. I love you both very much, I would do anything for you guys. Both. Of you guys. Jacob I may not be your biological mom but you are my son no matter what anyone says." She said taking one of his hand in hers and kissing it. "Mom... Are you divorcing Tim?" Jacob asked his eyes glassing over. Mom sighed nodding slowly. "I can't do it anymore. I'm sorry Jacob I really am. I really want you to stay with us baby. Kayla and I need you." She said as tears slowly start rolling down her face. "I'll do anything to stay with you guys. You're more family then he ever was." He said quickly. Mom smiled. "Okay then. It's settled. I'll fill out the papers for the divorce and bring his ass to court for custody." I looked at Jacob and hugged him tight, he hugged me back, and mom joined in.
