I assumed I was in heaven...
Everything was this bright white light. It was comforting... Accepting.
I felt free. Free from that awful pain I had just experienced. I no longer ached or burned...
"Luna..." I heard a deep voice from somewhere call my name.
I spun around looking for that voice.
"W-w-w-who's there?" I asked frightened.
Suddenly, the bright white light was gone...
I was surrounded by darkness and fog. Where was I? I looked around trying to figure out where I was.
I felt the pavement beneath my bare feet. I heard water too. The place where I was at was way too familiar.
But I just couldn't place it.
I saw a door open and a girl being kicked out of one of the stores. The girl looked familiar too.
I squinted my eyes trying to get a better look at her...
I took a few steps closer and recognized the girl's face immediately.
It was me...
Last night, right after I had been kicked out of the bookstore.
And there I was walking down the alley holding my mother's necklace.
I ran my fingers over my neck checking to see if I still had my necklace on. I breathed a sigh of relief when I felt it beneath my fingers.
But then I realized what was going to happen soon. I was going to be attacked... I looked around everywhere trying to see if I could see my attacker and somehow warn myself.
I saw a shadow follow closely behind me in the alley that I came out of, just before I was jumped.
There was a tall, slender man. I couldn't tell anything else about his features.
How did I not realize he was following me?! He was right there... Ten feet behind me. I didn't hear anything. No footsteps or anything.
I was enraged at myself.
How could I not have heard anything...
"Luna!!!" I yelled at the top of my lungs and the man turned and looked at me.
He smiled and I saw his fangs. His smile faded into a smirk and he brought his index finger up to his lips, telling me to be quiet.
The man quickly climbed up the brick walls and I saw myself turn around. I now realized that it wasn't my attacker who had been calling my name... It was me.
"Luna run!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
But, I turned around and kept walking. Completely clueless.
I ran and caught up to myself. And then ran to the docks.
I knew exactly what was going to happen next. Tears poured out of my eyes.
"No, Luna... No! Run! Run back to the bookstore! Run anywhere, just don't stay here!" I screamed as I sobbed.
I saw myself look around trying to find out what was stalking me. Not even realizing that my attacker was right behind me. He backed away. He was now standing in the streetlight. It was almost like he was trying to make sure that I knew exactly what he looked like.
I saw his perfect blonde hair, his bright red eyes shining, and his fangs extended. I watched him as he slowly crept up on me. I was completely clueless.
I watched him tear a chunk of skin out of my throat like some sort of animal.
He let me recover a little and then he bit into my neck.
I watched blood spill out of my mouth. I saw my body go limp. My eyes looked glassy.
When he was done with me he dropped me to the ground and straightened his clothes and fixed his hair and licked his lips.
His eyes were now a brilliant blue.
He walked a little closer to me and I took a few steps back.
He gave me an approving once over and winked at me.
Then suddenly he was gone. I stood on the docks for a while staring at my lifeless body.
Suddenly, I was back in the bright white light.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Where am I!?!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
"You have to go back..." A booming deep voice said.
"What do you mean I have to go back?" I asked.
"You have to go back..." The deep voice repeated.
"I can't go back. I'm dead." I said.
"You're not dead. It's time for you to go back now, Luna. You can no longer stay here." The voice said again.
I nodded and my vision was gone.
All the pain was back. All the burning was back. I was back inside my body...
