I walked through the house and found Demetri's room with ease. I knocked on the door twice.
"May I come in?" I asked quietly, looking at my feet.
"Sure," I opened the door and walked in.
I sat down in a chair in front of his desk. He had books and papers spread all over it.
"Did Ella-"
"Be quiet." He growled.
I did as I was told, but I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing with all the books.
"So, what's this?" I asked referring to the mess on his desk.
"Research." He answered simply while thumbing through a book.
"Oh," I said and nodded.
"Did you come here for something specific?" He asked looking up from his book.
He stared at me with his icey blue eyes. He moved his hair out of his eyes and sighed.
"Yes, I did. But you told me to be quiet as I was trying to ask you." I threw in his face.
"We will not be discussing Ella here, or at least not right now." He whispered.
"Why?" I asked.
He pointed to his ear and then to the ceiling. I nodded and sat back in my seat. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it, and sighed.
"I'm going hunting later if you'd like to join me," He said and winked.
"I'd love too." I said.
He nodded and I left the room. I went upstairs to find my room and ran into Asher. He stopped me and grabbed my arm and drug me into the room in the basement where they incinerated the bodies. The horrid smell burned my nose. He let go of my arm and stared at me.
"I have a question for you Luna," He stated.
"Was dragging me down here really necessary?" I asked.
"Yes, it was." He said.
"Is Ella hiding something from me?" he asked and studied my face.
"No, and if you think she was, why would you think she would tell me?" I paused.
"She barely knows me, I don't think she trusts me after my little incident in the woods." I said.
"She's been acting different lately, and you're the only woman here she can confide in." He said and slowly started walking towards me.
For each step he took, I took one back.
"You're hiding something," He said and backed me up against the cement brick wall.
"No, I'm not. I'm telling you the truth. She hasn't even spoken to me since the other day. She's still mad at me." I said.
"I know you're lying." He grabbed me by my throat and stared into my eyes.
"I'm not lying." I said.
"Yes you are. I saw you following Ella into the woods earlier today," He said.
"That's only because I was trying to apologize, she wouldn't say anything though." I was struggling to get my breath.
I knew I was stronger than him, but he was an Elder. I couldn't disrespect him.
He silently stared at me for a few seconds. He let go of my throat. I fell to the floor coughing until my throat burned.
"If I find out you're lying, I will kill you." He said and left the room.
