A week past by and somehow I managed to avoid the boys, hibernating in my room or driving out early. Figuring it'd be okay to risk an hour or so, and knowing my behaviour was getting a bit ridiculous, I went outside to sunbathe in the garden.

Feeling the sun tingling my skin I sank into my lawn chair and basked in the warmth, after the tense mood I'd been in the last few days for once I was well and truly relaxed. Right when I was about to fade into sleep, something wet and squishy hit me in the stomach. It didn't hurt, but the shock of the unexpected had me leaping up out of my chair and screaming out.

What was that?

I scan the garden for what had attacked me but the sound of giggles behind the fence give me a clue, seeing a pair of heads covered in golden hair, and those beautiful bright blue eyes, peeking over solved the case.

The twins duck back down, giggles spilling out again and I know my face holds a smile. I grab the sponge ball I now see in the grass by my abandoned chair and toss it back over the fence. It's been soaked in water so now both my stomach and hand are cool. An excited scream is let out from their side of the fence and I'm hoping I got one of them back.

A second later the balls heading back, but this time I'm ready, so I catch it before it hits either me or the ground. I pull my hand back to throw but just before I let it go three balls fly at me. One only makes a few feet in front of me, one gets my arm and one, and the last much bigger and definitely wetter ball whacks me right in the chest. It explodes, drenching me, I'm guessing its one of the water balloons left over from our battle last week.

The twins loose it, laughing loudly, in hysterics over my state and their victory. I put my hands on my hips and pretend to stomp in anger, as I head round to their garden. Seeing me they make a run for it and I chase after them, making zombie sounds.

"Help, Help!" Lucy yells out. "Bwing da doggy!"

I'm not sure if I'm meant to be the dog but I keep fake running, telling them I'm going to catch them. Except then someone bangs into me from behind, scooping me up and swinging me around, and a round.

"Whaaaa!" I scream out surprised and worried I'll fall, but I get placed gently to the ground and the hands move away.

I look up about to fend off the new enemy but then freeze dead before I reach any little devils. There is a much bigger devil stood there, the twins hiding behind his legs.

"So apparently I'm not above using my baby brother and sister to get you to talk to me." Jace stood over me looking sheepish.

My eyes flit from him to the twins and back and I sigh deeply, not wanting to upset them. Well I don't want to upset anyone really. I grin at the mini Jace's and put my hands up in the air in surrender.

"Yay!!! We win, we win!" They say together, proud and smiley.

"Can we play more?" Luke asked me shyly.

"Of course we have to!" I exclaim. "I have to get revenge." He bounces up and down in anticipation. "But you have to come over and be on my side this time." Luke's eyes open wide and he nods quickly.

I put my hand out to him and we head back round, giving Lucy and Jace light hearted smirks, all in good sportsmanship, as we go.

The next few games were more of a game of who can get the other team wettest rather than us chasing or catching each other. By the end no one really lost as we were all dripping and laughing. We are all sat around arguing over who threw the best when a voice grabs our attention.

"Looks like you guys have had lots of fun." Michelle chuckles at us, leaning against the back door. She's wearing a suit so she must have just come back from work. That familiar tug pulls at my chest.

She takes Luke and Lucy inside to dry them off, giving me a smile as she goes, and I sit down on the step while Jace grabs us a drink.

When he comes back I'm already dreading what he's going to say. He takes a seat next to me and hands me a bottle of water, and a lolly.

"Thanks." I mumble quietly.

"No problem."

We stay like that arms lightly touching sucking on our lollies, his hair and mine mixing. Even though it's not been that long but, I've missed him.

"Missed you." He says reading my mind, I turn my head surprised and he looks shy, slightly uneasy. "You've been busy a lot recently. I came round to your's a few times, but you always seemed to be out." He rubs the back of his neck, the air becoming awkward.

My head drops down and I stay quiet, biting my bottom lip in guilt.

"I just needed some time alone, for a bit." I mumble, not wanting to lie, but not telling him all the facts either.

"You, er, do you need more time?" his voice is quite. I can tell he'd rather I not disappear for days again.

I didn't want to get close but somehow its got to the point where he means too much. I don't want to loose these guys as friends. What if they don't want to be friends anymore, we haven't known each other long and then I go and start ignoring them, no reason given. My head twists back round facing him.

I don't want to be alone.

"No." The word comes out fast and Jace's eyes get big then he breathes out deeply; his whole body drops tension, I didn't see before, leaving his muscles.

He dips his head down onto my shoulder, hair falling in front of his eyes and nuzzles me.

"Good."
