We woke still huddled together, Deacon's warmth surrounding me. I noted the time on my clock, over by the window, 10:30. Shock courses through me. I hadn't slept this peacefully in, I don't even know how long. I blink, shut my eyes, and blink again. Then yawn wide, managing to fully open my eyes. My legs wiggle a little, needing to use the bathroom, unsure if I should get out but not wanting to wake Deacon. Hearing his soft chuckle, though makes me realise he's already up. Twisting around, keeping the sheets against my face to hide any morning breath, I peek up at him.
Deacon looks amazing in the morning light, his messy hair almost over his eyes still filled with sleep. My gaze fell to his lips remembering last night activities, heat warming my cheeks, and then those lips twitched noting where my attention had travelled too. My face ducks down embarrassed at being caught. He presses his face into my head, laughing slightly louder.
"I haven't slept so well in ages." He mumbles into my hair.
"Me either." I tell him, happy he's slept well too. Maybe he could sleep here again?
What am I thinking? Of course he can't just start sleeping here. That's not normal.
"We should probably get up." I say, not really wanting to.
"Probably." Deacon responds, making no move to get up. I giggle. I actually giggle.
We stay where we are and he starts to caress my back soothingly and I sigh contentedly. Just for now I feel safe, here in deacons arms.
Eventually we do get up though, Deacon uses my bathroom quickly then heads out, back to Jace's house. I'm worried about what they will think about Deacon spending the night.
When he's gone I think of last night, but also I think of the moments I've had with both the others; Jace's calming, steady gaze, the way he first said hello through the windows, the feeling of his head in my lap. Then there's Nate; his sweet smile, his beautiful belly laugh, the way he just seems to have the ability to make me relax simply by being next to him. How can I have these thoughts for not one, not two, but three boys.
I have a long, hot, shower and get dressed for the day. It's baking outside, as usual, so I take out a thin blue dress I used to wear on holiday with Kate. We had matching ones, hers pink and mine blue. I feel a smile tug at my mouth and then a few stray tears run down my cheek. I blow-dry my hair and then wrap it up into a bun, not even bothering to attempt to tame it.
I'm making a ham salad sandwich in the kitchen when the boys walk in through the French doors. I tense and look up at them guilty and embarrassed for leaving the way I did, and nervous about their reaction to Deacon sleeping the night. I'm not sure what I expect them to do exactly but they just walk in jolly smiles on their faces, Nate gives me bear hug and Jace wraps his arm around my neck kissing the top of my head.
"Can we have sandwiches too? I'm starved." Nate asks me.
I'm stood there in disbelief at their lack of reaction. "Sure." I mumble.
"Sweet." Jace sings. Already digging in, slicing off a piece of bread. I look to Deacon but he just winks at me and shoves a piece of ham into his mouth. So I guess they are cool with it? I'm not sure if I'm cool that they're cool.
My head hurts.
"So school starts tomorrow. We need to get to the shops pick up those last minute pencils and what not." Jace announces when we have finished munching our lunches.
Nate groans and Deacon smirks. I don't need to go to the shops, but I stay silent. After being away from them last week I don't really care what we do as long as I can tag along. I really need to try and figure all this out. Jace strolls over to me and takes my hand, then turns leading us out the door. The others trail after us. Jace opens the passenger side to his car and I hop in.
"How come shorty gets to sit up front?" Nate moans but he gets into the back anyway. I look back and stick my tongue out at him and he joke pouts back at me.
"My car, my rules." Jace says.
