I open my eyes, drowsy, and see Deacon staring straight ahead, laying on his back. Hearing me shuffle around, he turns to face me, just looks at my face. I can hear Jace's soft snoring behind me."I'm sorry, May." Deacon says, softly. The way his soft hair is slightly covering his eye makes me struggle not to brush it back.
"For what?" I ask him, brows pulling together, not sure what he's apologising for.
He grimaces at my response.
"That day. When I ignored you." It's obvious how awful he feels. I can't believe how much it's obviously bothering him. It feels so long ago now.
"It's okay." I whisper, looking down. I don't know why he was so weird that day, but the guy here, right now, is my Deacon. I could never stay mad at this amazing, sweet, guy.
"It's not okay. Dammit. I'm..." His voice is raw, filled with emotion. His eyes look so lost. I don't think this is all because of ignoring me that one time, there's got to be more to all this. I just don't know what that more is.
"Deacon. It will all be okay." I say softly, trying to put confidence into my timid voice. He looks away, biting his bottom lip in anguish. I think he might cry again, but then he looks sharply back at me and gives me a forced grin, eyes dry.
"What do you want to do today?" He asks.
"I don't mind, whatever." I say, ignoring his change in subject.
"Well I think we should go swimming." A voice from behind says and deacon and I jump in surprise.
Nate's leaning against the wall, half a smile on his face at catching us off guard. Is he going to want to talk about my kissing attack? Is he angry?
I wait for his features to turn angry and for the rejection to hit again. instead though he just stands there watching us, with a strange look I cant decipher.
"And how come I wasn't invited to the sleep over?" He pouts, placing his hands on his hips. Is he not going to bring it up? I feel a part of me relax just a little, grateful. Maybe he will bring it up another time, when the others aren't near by.
Deacon chuckles under his breath and rolls his eyes a little. "Sorry, man. Didn't exactly plan it."
Nate harrumphs. "Well next time I am to be informed." He jokes.
He saunters over to us and plunks down on top, like literally just jumps on us. I let out a grunt and hear Deacon do the same. I see Nate's face close to mine, his smile big and eyebrows wigging. seconds later we are all trying to catch our breathes, in a giggling mess.
"Need more sleep. Shush." Jace moans, pulling his pillow over his head and turning away from our antics.
Nate and Deacon face each other, evil smirks in place. Then they are jumping on top of Jace, tackling him.
