After an uncomfortable quiet moment we clear up our table and headed back to the car. This time Deacon took the passenger side and Nate and I sat in the back. The journey was painfully silent at first, then Jace put the radio on to help fill the void.

I stare out the window watching the trees and buildings go by, colours blending, and perk up as we pass my lake from the other day, far in the distance. It brings a tiny smile to my face, and I plan to go back soon for another run.

Nate bumps my foot with his, and I flick my eyes to him to see what he wants, shaking my head. He grins, and kicks my foot again.

"How are your legs feeling now? All healed up?" He has a slight mocking tone, but there was also sincerity there in the question.

I blush, remembering our meeting. Even though it had been weeks now, bizarrely, this was the first time he'd brought it up. I definitely hadn't planned to. "All better now." I mumble out.

Deacon twists in his seat to look back at us. "What's wrong with your legs?" Eyes tracing over the limbs in question.

Nate chortles, excited to share the tale of my humiliation. "Found her in the park. She . . ." I shove my hands over his mouth leaning over him on my knees. His eyes widen, and then the laughter starts up again, behind my fingers. My face starts glowing and scrunches up into a pout. Trying to win him over.

I feel what could have been a peck of his lips behind my hands, but couldn't be sure, and then he licks me, again. I wrinkle my nose at the wetness but don't move away.

"Sorry, guess it's a secret." Nate tells Deacon obeying my wishes, his eyes were still vastly bemused but at least he wasn't sharing my mortification with the others. Deacon huffs, turning back around, and soon we were back on Jace's street and mine.

My eyes dart to my mums car, shocked to see she was home. I hadn't really seen her at all recently, just in passing, always in one of her rushed exits. I didn't want to go in. The boys had paused on their way to Jace's house, looking at me cautiously. Noting my attentions path.

"You want to go in?" Nate asked carefully, biting on his lip.

I glanced back at my house and then back at the boys.

"Or you could come chill for a bit?" Hinting this would be the preferred choice, but unsure what I wanted to do.

All three were giving me that 'look'. The one I hated. I had worried this would happen now they knew so much about what was going on. I didn't want them to change how they acted around me.

"Yeah lets hang out for a bit longer first." I said nervously, faking cheer, and watching their shoulders sag marginally in relief. They continue to walk in the direction to Jace's, backs to me, but there's still that strain in the air. First with what happened at the mall and now this.

Getting an idea into my head, as an attempt to lighten the mood and also wanting revenge for earlier, I run and jump onto Nate's back. He grunts, stumbling a few feet before righting himself, taking on my weight. I lean in and quickly suck his ear lobe into my mouth, flicking it with my tongue, and then biting down roughly. I smirk to myself and then look up to see the others reactions; Jace has a half smile on his face, eyes glowing with amusement, and Deacons brows are up high, giving me a 'are you serious right now' expression.

I wait for Nate to pull me off, or wine at me, but he just puts his hands on the bottoms of my thighs and walks forward, past the others.

I push myself up and stretch round to see him, and am not sure if I should be pleased or not. His face and neck are beet red, mouth open slightly and eyes showing his surprise at my prank, but there's also a hint of heat mixed in. I think he liked it.

Well, well.

We are almost at the door when a familiar voice, snatches both my attention and worries over silly pranks.

"May! Get over here!" She sounds furious, but I'm not sure why. She never cares where I am, and NEVER goes out of her way to talk to me. It's my mother.

The boys seem tense, unsure. I know I need to get to my mother quickly, or they will think even less of me. Taking a collective breath, I slide down Nate's back and pull my dress back into position.

"I'll see you guys at school." I mumble out, not looking any of the boys in the eye. I see Nate open his mouth, but then he closes it tight.

Slowly I put one foot in front of the other until I'm standing where she wants. I can't remember the last time I was this close to her. With out another word, she turns and walks back into our house, leaving the door open for me to follow.
