Back in my room I had three possible outfits laid out. The first was a pretty old one-piece from a few years back, the fabric had thinned over time though making sections of the piece see-through. The second was a raunchy red bikini, which had actually been one of Kate's. The third was a two piece set, but the top covered most of my stomach and the bottoms had a short skirt attached.
The one piece is out, Honestly, I should just chuck it. Looking back and forth between the others I eventually settle on the skirt and top, although it will still show a line on skin on my stomach, I think I'd be permanently as red faced in the other one.
I wish I had time to go out and buy another one piece, but it's too late now. I should stop fussing so much, it's not like I think I have a bad body or anything, In fact I know I'm lucky to have the curves I've grown recently. I'm just not all that comfortable walking around people half naked.
The alarm I set myself as the five minute mark to leave the house goes off and I stare at it for a moment, attempting to turn back or freeze time for a bit, before turning it off. No luck.
Grabbing the two-piece with a skirt I slip it on and then shove the light top and tie the longer beach scarf I had around my hips. It would have to do. How an hour had gone by with me staring at clothes on my bed I had no idea. I scooped up the evidence and through it into my bottom draw and was down the stairs and out the door.
The boys stood by the car, each with an infectious grin on their face as they chatted animatedly. Deacon spotted me first, looking me up and down, giving a half smirked smile. The others noting his reaction turned to look and their own lips grew wider.
Nate skipped over and putting an arm around my shoulders, went to move me faster to the car. "Lets go, MayMay! We are going to have some real fun for once!"
"What do you mean for once? We have fun." Jace said, only half seriously, he flicked his eyes to me and then added a pout.
Nate rolled his eyes and then shoved his hand, none too lightly, into Jace's face. I felt my eyes widen at the action, but then when Jace started chuckling I joined in. Boys. Nate opened the boot, and proceded to take my bag from my shoulder and place it inside. Next he was guiding me to one of the back doors and nudging me in, and then over to the other side of the car. His excitement was practically leaking from his pores.
"What if I'd wanted my bag with me?" I asked him, holding my face still.
He froze still, in the middle of pushing in his belt, and then tilted his head slightly to look up at me through thick lashes. Nate watched my face for a second, then curved his lips up, into an apologetic, yet somehow cheeky, smirk. Adding wide innocent eyes to help his defense.
"Oops?" He posed it as a question, and I just sighed dramatically then stuck my tongue out at him. That got him to flash some teeth at me, before shuffling back into his seat.
The others opened the doors at the front and slid in; Jace driving, and Deacon riding shotgun. Nate started bobbing up and down, seeming unable to wait another moment before getting there. Seeing as we hadn't even left yet I could only imagine what he'd be like in an hour.
"Nate, man, turn it down a notch would you? Why are you so bouncy? Its not like you've never been to the beach before." Deacon sighed, rubbing at his temples.
"May." Nate spoke my word as if that was answer enough. I turned to him in question, brows up.
"Not been to the beach with you before, so its like its new." He answered my silent question, wiggling his shoulders in a repeated shrug. My cheeks felt slightly heated. I tried to cool them with my hands knowing it wasn't a big deal but still feeling touched that Nate was acting like this, at least partly because of me.
I saw deacon and Jace both nod heads as if agreeing to his reasoning and then we were off. I watched out the window, seeing buildings, trees and cars speed by. After a while though Id settled into the type of dazed stare where you don't actually see anything but shapes and colors' and instead focus inwards.
I thought about how long it had been since I'd been with the boys like this. Even though I hadn't known them long, now we were together again, I felt as if Id filled a chunk of myself that had been missing. A part of me knew why I had chosen to distance myself from them, but the other half was yelling I told you so's.
I began to think about my mother, but shook my head hard to stop the thoughts from continuing. Twisting my head to the inside of the car I spotted some sort of game device in Nate's hands, his thumbs moving back and forth quickly on the buttons.
I redirected to the front and saw Deacon had fallen asleep, his head hiden, resting against the window. Jace was concentrating on driving, humming to the music which played softly through the cars speakers.
Sight set back on Nate, I inched closer to try and see his screen, though it was hard as there was a reasonable space between us. Still I could see some of what he was doing. It was a character running around collecting different objects and fighting things every so often, from what I could tell. I thumped my head against the back of the seats, as I continued to watch. Soon my neck ached from the odd angle though and I rubbed at it to work out the cinch.
"Just sit in the middle."Nate mumbled, not moving his head or stopping his speedy thumbs.
I hadn't known he even saw me watching, he seemed so focused on what he was doing. "Huh."
"If you sit in the middle seat you can see better."He said again, this time flicking his eyes at me.
I muttered something back, then unfastened my belt, edged over and fastened back in. Now our shoulders were touching and I could see everything he was doing clearly.
I lifted my knees up, tucking the scarf around my legs so nothing was visible, and rested my arms on them as I watched him play. After about ten more minutes he asked if I wanted to have a go, but I shook my head no, content to simply watch. I'd probably just mess up his game anyway.
More time went by and I let out a yawn, travelling always seemed to make me sleepy. Nate patted at his shoulder, and I looked at the spot, then at his face.
He patted it again. "Sleep."He grunted. Apparently Nate wasn't much of a conversationalist when he played his games.
I let out a small snort and then rested my head on he shoulder. I think I would have felt more nervous, yet he seemed so intent of his game I didn't think he'd even notice me.
Breathing in his scent, fresh, clean, and a hint of cherries, I settled down and drowsily continued to watch him play. He defeated another monster, but then put the game on pause. I was about to ask why he stopped, when he moved his arm around me and then scooted round so he was leaning against the door and I was propped up on his chest. The way he'd moved had me maneuvering my legs so they were on their sides along the seats, and I had put a hand on his chest to stop myself from slipping.
Nate shuffled around for another second, then seeming comfortable with his positioning, took hold of his console, and proceeded to play. In order to hold onto it comfortably he had basically tightened his hold on me, pressing me into his body.
I felt stiff and uncomfortable, but didn't want to let him know. At first, I stayed like that, breathing shallowly, trying not to move and give it away, then slowly felt myself relax, sinking more into him, as the sleepiness returned.
