I wasn't sure what we would be doing or if we would be going anywhere so I stuck with shorts and a spaghetti sleeved thin top and my trusty sneakers. At exactly 10am a knock came at my door and I wound down the stairs to greet him. I was a little nervous at meeting someone new but the boredom just so overwhelming I didn't give it too much thought. I opened the door and my tongue felt thick in my mouth, stopping words and air from reaching my lungs. He was gorgeous. Last nights peek had not shown the extent of that chiselled jaw, defined cheekbones and kissable lips. None of that caught my attention as tightly as his eyes. Thick lashes surrounded them, sky blue and filled with mischief, and they were warm I literally felt myself melt.

"Morning." His voice was gravely and I could feel its vibrations run through me. He was hot, but I'd gotten a hold of myself in the last week.

"Hey." I spoke neutrally back at him.

He grabbed my hand, pulling the door shut behind me, and led me down the stairs "Come on we have to get ready."

I expected him to take us to his car or his front door maybe but he brought us round the back of both our houses through the gate that led to his garden. He had moved lawn furniture around the garden; tables were on their sides, chairs had sheets tied between them, creating almost shields. There were balloons most filled with water and in buckets piled up by the side of the house and I stared at it all slack jawed. This was a set up for the biggest water fight I'd ever seen.

Jace placed a chair one side of the left over balloons and stuck a hose on one of the ends filling them with water. He eyed me expectantly.

"How did you and Nate meet then?"

"I was running. . ." I started but he interrupted half way through, eager for information.

"You run?" making me wonder why he was surprised. Was that weird? It kind of annoyed me.

"Yes. I run." I told him firmly. "I'd, um, pushed my self a little hard and he helped me get back home." Words fading as I got to the end of my sentence, cheeks heating as I remembered the day. Uhg.

"He told you about me?" He was curious.

"Just your name. When he saw you lived next door to me." I said quietly, he wouldn't be annoyed Nate had told his name to some stranger, would he? Whoops.

"He had to help you home? Did you get hurt?" slight concern tinged his words now.

Okay not bothered about the stranger knowing his name thing.

I shook my head waving away his worry. "No my body was just caput." He raised his eyebrows; his eyes sparkling and small smile twitching at his lips. He opened his mouth about to speak again but then a ringing sound went off coming from his hand. His watch's alarm I noted as he pressed its sides stopping the annoying beeping.

"Thought we had more time. Quick. Lets hide." His eyes were wide, face excited as he grasped my arm and picked up a balloon filled bucket. He dragged me behind one of the shields he'd built. We crouched behind some sort of plastic sandcastle that was propped up with rods he must have shoved into the ground. I opened my mouth trying to ask what was going on but he quickly placed a finger on my lips. My words got caught in my throat and my breathing sped up, not moving a muscle. He was looking at his finger on my lips. His eyes flicked to my eyes for a second and then went back to my lips. Slowly he moved his finger away letting in run down my mouth as he did, making my breath stutter out. I felt his breath on my face and realised how close our heads were. He was still looking at my lips and I was staring at his. He licked his lips and edged forward slightly, eyes darting between my eyes and open mouth. Maybe this could be a good way to keep myself distracted? Plus he only lived next door . . .
