I head in wondering what it is that she wants from me. After all she hasn't really spoken to me in weeks, again.
She's sat at the table, staring down at a plate of food, a mug in hand. There's another plate across from her, which I guess is for me. Her hair is up, but there are loose strands everywhere. I can tell right away that something is wrong. She never lets herself look less that perfect.
"You start school tomorrow." She tells me, eyes still fixed on her food, and her words seem slightly slurred. Is she ill?
"Yes." I confirm. "I have everything ready. I was just out with friends buying some more pens and things."
"Friends." She sneers at me, mockingly. I don't see the joke, and she doesn't elaborate.
"One of the boys lives next door." I say, trying to make conversation.
"Go to your room, Kate." She snaps, shoving the other plate of food at me, and stopping any more discussion. I swallow thickly.
Kate? She called me Kate.
I don't really understand what's gotten her in such a mood, but I do as she says. I don't want to be here with her any longer than I have too. I hate how awkward our relationship has become now, but it is what it is. Still I do worry whats wrong.
Maybe she had a bad day at work?
Why did she call me Kate?
She must just be confused, tired. She's been working so mush lately.
I head up to my room, place my dinner onto the side table, and face plant my bed.
I have a sinking feeling about my mother's strange attitude, but hope it was just a one off.
As I lye on top of my comfy covers I try to distract myself, planning out what I need to get ready for tomorrow;
clothes,
bag,
lunch/money (Depending on how early I wake up),
notebook,
pens,
pencils
bla, bla, bla.
Same old bits and bobs for any school.
My mind wanders to the three boys, who have made everything better somehow, and I fall asleep with a tiny smile lingering on my face.
