Chapter 31: The Ends justify the means

Lloyd smirked before snapping his fingers and the whole world around us leeched itself of color as it turned black and white.

"What in the hell is this place? What did you do?!" I snapped.

"My, my such risqué language for such an elegant lady," Lloyd muttered as a bright red hunting bow appeared in his hands.

"A temporary arena, hmmm...interesting," Matthew muttered as the light began to gather in his right hand soon forming a glowing spear.

"Matthew, please don't do this you aren't like, Taiga!"

I pleaded with him.

"My name is, Gabriel, Mistress," he told me calmly.

He's not going to stop at least until he gets it out of his system. If I'm here then I can sew him up if he gets hurt too bad.

I let out a sigh as I gritted my teeth. "Fine! If you two want to fight then fight!" I snapped.

A second after I utter the words an arrow shot past me almost grazing my cheek Matthew was gone instead standing on a nearby roof.

More glowing spears appeared around him then fanned out going after Lloyd.

Wait a minute...

I took out my gun and aimed it the best I could at Lloyd when I did I heard Rose.

"Puppet Master not detected trigger will stay locked."

I frowned as I examined the gun then I realized what Taiga said.

So only Puppet Masters can harm each other and the Puppets can fight each other.

I scowled as I turned the gun on myself only to hear Rose's voice again this time in a much darker tone.

"Toymaker detected trigger will unlock please kill immediately."

I let out a sigh as I returned it to my leg holster.

A moment later there was a loud echoing boom above me. One glance immediately told what was happening.

Why is half a bell tower about to fall on me?!

One thing I can do that seems very impractical for a woman my age is run in high heels.

Even though I was running everything went black for a few moments as I heard a long rumbling crash, however, through it all I was surrounded by warmth.

I opened my eyes to see Matthew holding me close while both of us were surrounded by a blue barrier.

"Um, Matthew...what exactly just happened?" I whispered slowly.

He just blinked at me slowly which caused me to frown. "What's wrong are you broken, brother?" I asked him.

For some Matthew didn't seem to like that in fact, he cringed. "You keep calling me, Matthew. It's not my name, I've told you my true name since you're my, Mistress you need to learn it," he told me.

I pouted as I realized something. "What happened to, Lloyd?" I asked him.

"He ran after doing this. But my spears hit their targets," Matthew told me as he gestured to the broken stone around us.
