-Corina-

Normally I wouldn't have tea with Matthew but lately, things hadn't been as awful and awkward as usual between us. So at the moment, we were in the kitchen together giving the staff a break as we baked a batch of scones and blueberry muffins together.

"Father would definitely be proud if he could see you right now. You're going to make a very good wife someday, Corina," Matthew told me as he patted my head once.

I let out a small unladylike snort before grinning at him. "Father would be proud of you too, and probably a little envious over how quickly you've made his business expand," I said.

Matthew went quiet for a moment then he let out a sigh as he massaged his temples for a moment.

"Are you alright?" I asked him as I frowned.

"Yes, I'm okay it's just a small headache. Mother was, excuse my language, Corina being a bit of bitch last night when she chose to practically invite herself into my office and perform some very lewd acts," he grumbled.

Lewd...acts? Ugh...that's just, disgusting! Filthy! Horrible!

I shuddered for a moment at Matthew's words.

"Has mother ever tried anything like that with you?" He asked me.

I froze and my grip on the mixing bowl tightening. If my grip hadn't tightened the glass bowl would've fallen to the floor and shattered.

This is the chance you've been waiting for tell him!

While a part of me urged myself to tell Matthew the truth another part of me cowered in fear and paranoia.

Don't tell him! She has eyes and ears everywhere! The second you open your mouth she'll hear it and you'll just suffer from it!

"No, I try to steer clear of mother so I wouldn't know how she behaves," I whispered as I stared down at the bowl.

"Well that's one good thing I guess," Matthew sighed.

I just nodded in response. It was around early noon when we finished the cooking everything and decided to eat the desserts we made outside with tea.

"I can't remember the last time we did something like this," I said as I fixed myself a cup of tea.

"I can, it was back when I first made you that stuffed cat," he remained me.

I held back a giggle. "Opal seams were all over the place I nearly had to redo him from the ground up," I chuckled.

Matthew rolled his eyes as he smiled slightly. "Please don't tell any of my business associates about that," he muttered.

"Well hello children, I've been looking all over for you."

I nearly jumped out of my seat when I suddenly heard the voice I never wanted to hear again.

Mother, oh joy.

I saw Matthew's face pale slightly and he placed his teacup down. "M-mother what are you doing here? I thought you were attending a social event down at the museum," he said.

Mother grinned at both of us. "I was going but one of the servants told me how much fun you two were having here and I thought I'd return," she told him. Then she gestured to the table that Matthew and I sat at. "So, what is all of this?" She asked.

"Well, Corina and I were just sitting down to some tea and afternoon desserts," Matthew told her slowly.

Something isn't right, she's too happy.

Mother picked up a scone and began examining it. "I understand, Corina doing this but you are a man, Matthew the man of the house at that. So you should let either the servants or your sister make the food and tea," she told him before eating it.

I took a sip of my tea and ate a scone, Matthew mimicked my actions a few moments later.

"Oh, that reminds me, while I was at the event the Mayor mentioned something about wanting to meet you two. I'm headed back there now so I can drive if you like," Mother told us.

Matthew frowned as he stood up. "I wonder what the mayor could want now," he mumbled.

However, I remained seated for a few moments.

Something feels strange, mother is too happy and she's too friendly with me.

I made sure to take one of the knives that were on the table with me and conceal it in the pocket of my skirt.

Once in the car with mother and Matthew, I soon became sleepy. While Matthew had fallen asleep and slumped against me a while ago I was struggling to stay awake in the backseat.

Wait...we passed the museum a while ago where...where are we really going.

However, I never got to voice my complaints because I finally lost my battle against sleep.

I was suddenly there instead of a car I was sitting at a dark wooden table with a large metal mug in front of me.

"There you are, Rose I've been looking everywhere for you. You could've told me if you were here getting drunk off your arse."

I looked up to see Taiga standing across from me and he definitely looked stunning.

I opened my mouth to tell him that I wasn't drunk but what came out instead was a bunch of incoherent babbling.

Taiga sighed. "How you ever managed to tame me I have no clue. When you're drunk you can't even say spells right so I'm surprised that you haven't transformed yourself into some kind of animal," he told me.

"I just got finished debating with, Mr. Darwin that I would make a fine bird not an ape," I mumbled.

Taiga chuckled slightly. "You're lucky that I love you, Rose," he muttered.

I smiled also. "Would you like to drink with me, Mikleo?"

I woke up coughing violently as gray smoke filled my lungs and obscured my vision. Heat violently fanned at my skin as I slowly looked around.

I soon realized that I was inside the car with Matthew and mother and for some reason, it was on fire. I looked at Matthew who was still asleep next to me.

What happened?! How did this happen?!

I instantly began to shake Matthew but it didn't do anything because he continued to sleep.

He's still breathing so that's good!

I tried to unbuckle my seatbelt and the moment I did I let out a scream. I yanked my fingers away from the burning metal that was  making a crackling and popping sound.

My fingers! It's cooking the tips of my fingers!

It was then that I remembered the knife in my skirt pocket, I had thought I would have to use it to stab my mother. After cutting through mine and Matthew's seat belts I kicked the door open.

The hardest part was dragging Matthew as far away from the car as I could. I didn't stop dragging Matthew until I could barely see the flames of the car.

A moment later I heard a deafening boom which rocked the ground and trees causing a few birds to flee from their homes. At the moment Matthew woke up coughing violently and retching.

"W-where are we? What was that? What happened?" He asked as he looked around. His face was streaked with ash and soot and I was willing to bet mine was too.

"One thing at a time brother. But mother did this without a doubt so I think it's time you know why I don't like her," I told him.

Then I told Matthew, I told him about everything that mother has done and all the things that she did do to me over the years. After I was done my brother just stared at me for a few moments then he gave me a hug.

And I couldn't help it, I couldn't help but cry.
