-Corina-

I woke up slowly and sluggishly, my body felt slightly warmer than usual while my chest felt puffy and ached every time I took a breath that was too deep. As my vision cleared I realized that I was at the doctor's office.

I frowned as I forced myself to sit up. My skin felt oddly sticky. As I got up I noticed that Taiga lay next to me.

"Good morning, Corina how do you feel?" He asked me.

"Well, my chest aches. I've also noticed that I've been waking up next to you a lot more lately, more than I would like to admit in fact," I said.

Taiga smiled at me. "I enjoy cuddling you is that a problem, Mistress?" He asked me.

I shook my head as I glanced around the room again. "Why am I here?" I asked him.

"You became sick so, Matthew told me to bring you here," he told me as he sat up in the bed.

I just nodded in response as I eyed the machine that sat at my bedside.

"I didn't know that he could sew. It was interesting to know that he made, Opal," Taiga muttered.

"Matthew can sew but he's terrible at it, to tell the truth. When I first received, Opal the stitches on his seams were crooked and uneven so I had to completely redo it," I informed him.

"That actually makes more sense to me than, Matthew being able to sew," he said in an oddly cheerful tone.

Then Taiga sighed as he looked at me. "Corina, would you like to finalize your contract with me in this lifetime?" He asked gently.

I frowned. "Contract? What are you talking about?" I asked him.

Taiga opened his mouth and I noticed that his eyes were looking at my neck for a moment or two. "Never mind," he whispered.

I continued to frown, a minute later though Doctor Gregory entered the room.

"Good morning, Corina how do you feel today?" He asked me as he smiled slightly.

"My chest aches a bit but other than that I'm okay," I told him.

"That's good, it took a while to drain the fluid from your lungs so the discomfort you're feeling maybe from that. If you want, please use the bathroom to freshen up," he told me.

I smiled slightly as I headed for the bathroom. "Thank you," I said.

Once in the bathroom I locked the door then I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I noticed that my bruises were just starting to show through the makeup that I had placed on my neck. An ugly ring of purple and blue, I ran a single finger over one of the markings as I let out a sigh.

Filthy. Disgusting.

I turned on the shower and removed my clothing, then I climbed inside of the bathtub.

I wonder if I should just do it. If I complete whatever this contract is with Taiga can I have my own freedom?

I let out a sigh as I stared down at the drain. I ran my finger over my ruined eye.

Can I even be fixed?

After I finished washing up I stepped out of the bathtub to find Opal sitting in the sink with some clothing strapped to his back along with a piece of paper.

"Did, Taiga do that to you?" I asked him as I dried my body with a towel. Opal let out a meow that sounded more like a mix between a sigh and a groan.

I untied the rope from Opal's waist and took the clothing into my hands. I couldn't help but smile slightly as I read the letter.

Taiga has such elegant handwriting.

Dear Corina,

Attached to your mongrel of a cat there is some clothing that I got for you. I would deliver it to you myself but if I did then you wouldn't think I was a gentleman anymore.

Taiga

Opal leaped down onto the floor as I stifled a giggle. I placed the letter on the sink as I got dressed in the blouse and skirt that Taiga had brought me.

Once I was decent I walked out of the bathroom and returned to where Taiga and Doctor Gregory were waiting.

Doctor Gregory looked up as I returned to the room, I also noticed that the conversation between him and Taiga stopped. "There you are Corina, I hope that you feel slightly better," Doctor Gregory said.

"Yes I am, that shower helped very much," I admitted.

"That's good, very good. Corina, may I talk to you in the other room?" He asked me.

I expected Taiga to protest however he remained oddly silent this time.

"Yes of course," I said as I followed Doctor Gregory into the next room.

"Now, Corina I want you to remain calm please," he said slowly.

I chuckled as I smiled, "Of course I'll remain calm. Why wouldn't I remain calm?"

I saw him bite his lip as he took a deep breath before speaking.

"Corina, I've told, Taiga about your issues...the ones you've had at home with your mother," he told me carefully in a hushed tone.

I froze my eyes narrowing at him.

Now that I think about it, Taiga didn't even mention a single thing about my bruises which is definitely unlike him.

I covered my face with my hands and groaned. I was so angry I even cursed, forget trying to be ladylike I was pissed.

"I knew it! I should've just kept my mouth shut like I've been doing this whole time! Are you trying to get me killed?" I yelled.

Opal let out a whimper as he struggled to contain his larger form.

I closed my eyes as I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist, my nails digging deep into my palms.

"I'm glad that I know," Taiga said.

I could hear him behind me but I didn't open my eyes, I didn't move.

Opal let out another meow this time it was deeper almost like a rumbling sound.

He's in his larger form.

"It explains a lot about you, Corina so I'm glad that I know this now," Taiga told me.

"This explains nothing so shut up!" I snapped.

I felt Taiga's arms wrap around me from behind I let out a sigh as he hugged me.

"Please tell me that, Matthew doesn't know," I pleaded.

"Of course not," Taiga whispered.

I let out another sigh as I stared up at the roof. "Taiga, I have a question that I must ask you," I told him.

"Okay, what is it?" He asked as he continued to hug me.

"If I finalize that contract thing you mentioned could I do what I please?" I asked him.

For a few moments he didn't answer then he spoke, "It would grant you access to many different powers and other wonderful things."

I couldn't suppress the small smile that stretched across my face.

Freedom, and power. Interesting.
