Caroline, Elena and I walked through the woods at a steady pace. We had been summoned to the middle of the forest for a brief meeting. I knew it had something to do with the Wickory Bridge. It was too soon for the Salvatore brothers to change their focus point. They wanted the Originals dead, and nothing would change their minds.

Except, maybe the fact that I am linked to them. If one of them die then so do I. I didn't want to die, I had come to realize. I liked being a living-dead-person, but I couldn't help but wonder if my life's sacrifice would be worth it. The Originals would be stopped and all of my family and friends would be safe. Or on the other hand, I could live and the oldest vampires in the world could continue to terrorize us and make our lives hell- no pressure.

I bundled up my jacket tighter, I hadn't expected it to be so cold. Caroline's footsteps were light, her eyes were casted down towards the ground. Her father had been killed by Alaric the other day. I could imagine what she must be thinking, or feeling towards Rick right now.

"Alaric Saltzman killed my father." Caroline broke the silence.

Elena's expression turned somber, "I can’t expect you to be okay with this. But at least these herbs that Bonnie’s giving him, they’re healing him and they’re keeping the dark side buried."

"Yeah, and that’s supposed to make everything okay?"

Elena stopped walking and grabbed Caroline. My best friend for years had tears in her eyes as she looked at my older sister. I bit my lip kicking a stray twig.

"No, Caroline, it’s not okay. It’s horrible and I feel horrible about it, but he’s a victim of something supernatural, he didn’t ask for this, it just happened to him." Elena tried to justify Alaric's actions in some way, "Just like Bonnie’s mom, I mean, she didn’t ask to become a vampire. And neither did Electra, Stefan or Tyler."

            "Or me." Caroline muttered.

"Or you. None of you asked for this, but who would I be if I just turned my back on any of you?" Elena's brown eyes glimmered with hope that Caroline would understand.

I then smirked moving next to Elena. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and pulled her with me as I began to walk. Elena glanced at me curiously, "Oh, Elena Gilbert, my sister, savior of the cursed and the damned." I teased.

Matt suddenly appeared before us stopping Elena from replying. His bright blue eyes were filled with questions. It was clear that he was beyond confused.

"Hey." Matt greeted, "What’s with the cryptic secret meeting text?"

"Who knows?" I shrugged my shoulders, "Stefan just said to meet here. It could be anything I suppose."

Stefan and Damon's footsteps were heard from behind me. I turned around to face the two brothers. Damon and Stefan were standing together in a cooperative manner which didn't happen often. The two of them were ready to get down to business, and I was suddenly afraid to voice what I knew. Why would I want to be the bearer of bad news?
