The dark swallowed me whole, it consumed me, I was twisted in its hold.
Moonlight glistened upon the trees surrounding the road. It was quiet. Only the crickets sang tonight. Their voices carried on for miles, and miles. My mind was clear; a silent lucidity.
I stepped onto the concrete of the street. A car would be approaching soon, I could hear it. Spreading my arms wide I dropped to the ground. Unblinkingly I stared up at the night sky.
Head lights soon lit up my body as the car pulled to a stop. The woman inside the vehicle move frantically. Her heart hammered in her chest. Blood. I could smell it rushing as she opened the car door and rushed towards me.
"O-oh my god," The woman's blonde hair fell as wisps in her face. She gripped my hand softly, flinching at my cold skin, "Are you OK? I'm going to go call 911- wait here."
The heels of her shoes clicked as she retreated. I turned my head to the side as I watched her. My prey was leaving, she was getting away. Quickly I stood and walked towards her not making a sound. The blonde tried to pull her driver's-side door open once more, but I pushed it closed.
She gasped as her eyes grew three sizes. The woman hadn't expected me to follow her, I had seemed to be injured in her eyes. If she only knew. Fear coursed through her body at a fast and steady rate. I took a deep breath, taking in her scent.
"What do you want? I- I don't have any money." She stuttered.
I tilted my head at her and smirked. My eyes met hers as I spoke in a compelling voice, "Don't scream."
My fangs enlarged right before I indulged on her blood. She struggled and tried to grip my hair, making me bite harder than before. Her previous efforts ceased as the pain became too much. I could hear her mangled breaths as she attempted to do what my compulsion forbade her.
The blood flowed down my throat as I drank. Having this much power was amazing. I felt her pulse slow to a stop reminding me that she was dead. Pulling away I tossed her body to the ground. It crumpled in the dirt.
I licked my lips before turning away, she was just another body at the end of the day.

"Hey Sheriff Forbes," I smiled upon seeing her, "Thank you for seeing me."
Caroline's mom returned the smile as she offered me a seat in her office. Nothing had changed here. Caroline's eighth grade picture still sat upon her desk, braces and all. It sure hadn't been her best look.
"It's no problem, Electra, but I already told this to your sister and Alaric earlier. Wouldn't you just ask them?"
So sweet Elena already had spoken to her? I'd keep that in mind. I quickly arranged my features to look sad and withdrawn. Peeking up at the sheriff I saw sympathy flash through her eyes. Perfect.
"Elena and I aren't on speaking terms at the moment," I bit my lip, glancing off to the side.
"Oh, I see." She murmured, "Did you know that our medical examiner was murdered the night of the Wickery Bridge fundraiser?"
Of course I knew. I had looked into it already. This unusual news had indeed sparked my interest. The man hadn't even been a vampire and someone staked him.
