A Smiling Lie

Your heart and your soul,

Are blindfolded by first impressions.

Your eyes feed you lies,

And make you ask wrong questions.

Your touch hurts a lot,

Because your stare shoots daggers.

Your words are so cold,

And your cockiness never staggers.

Your wisdom is gone,

Because you feed your own needs.

You look me in the eyes,

But now you are the one who bleeds.

Why are you crying,

When you were always so sure?

Why are you hurting,

When I was the one to endure?

Your hands were so soft,

But all they touched was air.

Your smile was harmless,

You looked like you care.

Your mouth looked the same,

But the words weren't cruel.

Your words just as convincing,

But I'm no April fool.

You didn't change.
