After a large pizza, a French fry fight, and two chocolate milkshakes, Corrine and Owen found themselves at the mall, wandering around it, looking at all the shops. From afar, they didn't look like brother and sister, they looked more like a couple. Even though Corrine was older, Owen hit his growth spurt at twelve, and ended a full five inches taller than her at 5'10, and her 5'5. He would often tease her about her height, and she hated it, usually coming back with a smart ass remark, but she could never stay mad at him.
Owen glanced down at her before placing his arm on his sister's shoulder, and smirked at her. She glared back before elbowing him in the stomach. Owen groaned. "The benefits of being short!" she called over her shoulder, smiling at him.
Five minutes later of aimless walking, Owen spoke. "Wanna see a movie?" he asked.
"Hmm . . . promise me no romance? I almost died last time when you made me watch The Notebook." Corrine said. She made face when the memory came back and shuddered.
"Ah come on, it was a good movie! Besides you read romance all the time sis." he objected.
"That's different. I don't have to watch all the sappy . . . ness thing." she replied. "And if I have to sit through another love story that isn't Romeo & Juliet or Wuthering Heights, I will tell all you friends that you watch romance all the time. You can kiss your 'bad boy' reputation goodbye." Corrine threatened.
"You wouldn't." Owen gasped. His sister smirked.
"Watch me."
As they made their towards the theater, Owen questioned her non stop about how she couldn't stand romance movies, yet she could sit through Romeo & Juliet, or Wuthering Heights. "But they're practically the same thing!" he whined. "They both fall in love!"
"No." Corrine began. "Romeo and Juliet's family's hated each other, and it was a forbidden love. Not to mention they both die in the end. Normal romance movies do not end like that. It's happy endings and weddings, Not funerals and death." Owen shivered at such words. "And Catherine and Heathcliff's relationship, if you could call it that, is Gothic romance, which is much more amusing than normal romance. It's dark and twisted and full of confusion. Thus, making quite a difference." she said.
"Fine." Owen grumbled. They had reached the theater by now, and stood in line, debating movie options. "So, what do you want to watch?" he asked changing the subject. Corrine thought for a moment.
"Well, Star Wars is out." she said much too quickly for Owen's liking.
"And what is wrong with Star Wars?" he challenged.
"Nothing. I'm just not in the mood for "Use the force, Luke . . ." right now." Corrine said, doing her best to imitate Obi Wan Kanobi. "I love Stars Wars, don't get me wrong, but it's so long." she complained.
"How about The Forest."
"Boring. Saw it last week. 2 stars. Stupidest thing ever."
"Darn, I was looking forward to it. I guess that's out. Hmm, how about the 5th Wave?"
"We both know you don't want to sit through that." Corrine sighed.
"Alrighty then. How about . . . Assassins Creed?" Owen said finally. At this point he couldn't care less at what they watched.
"Sure, why not." She shrugged.
The two paid for their tickets, and headed over to the snack bar. Owen was chatting about how he was starting ninth grade, when Corrine spotted a group of kids walk in. She was to busy glaring to notice Owen calling her name. Owen frowned at his sister's odd behavior, and lightly touched her shoulder. Corrine turned to him. "Yeah?" she said.
