Corrine stared out the window as the rain streamed down the glass. It'd been raining non stop for the past two days, and it didn't look like it was about to let up anytime soon. "One heck of a spring break." she whispered quietly. She turned, and left her room, heading downstairs. She was waiting for Luke to show up. They hadn't seen each other since the day she told him she loved him. Corrine had texted Luke to just come inside when he showed up. She leaned against the counter, and decided to make a cup of tea. She put water in the kettle and set it to boil.
Propping herself up on her elbows, Corrine stared at a family picture that rested up against the back wall of the kitchen. It was taken shortly after Owen joined the family. Corrine was nine, and Owen was seven. She smiled at the memory. They were at the park that day, showing Owen around the neighborhood.
FLASHBACK
"Corrine . . . wait!" seven year old Owen shouted, trailing after the girl. Corrine stopped abruptly, allowing the boy to catch up. He collapsed to the ground, huffing greatly.
"Oops, I'm sorry." Corrine said, apologizing. Owen looked up at her.
"S'okay." he mumbled. Corrine stretched her hand out. Owen gave her a funny look before realizing she was trying to help him up. He took is cautiously, allowing the older girl to hoist him to his feet. "Thanks." he said, looking away.
"You don't have to be afraid." Corrine said, letting her arm drop back to her side. "I won't hurt you." Owen held his pinky out. Corrine smiled, and took it with hers. "I promise to be the best big sister ever."
END OF FLASHBACK
A pair of cold arms snaked around her waist causing her to jump, and smack the person behind her. "What is is with you abusing me?" she heard someone whine. She turned around fully to see a pouty Luke.
"What is it with you tying to scare me?" Corrine asked.
"I wasn't trying to scare you. I was trying to hug you." Luke pointed out.
"You're cold though." she complained.
"Well if you haven't noticed Love, it's not exactly warm outside." he smiled.
"No! . . . really?!" Corrine said. "I didn't know!" Luke frowned, and came up to her, wrapping his arms around his waist. She shivered at the touch.
"Don't be mean." he said, leaning in and pressed his lips lightly against her neck. Corrine breathed out. She wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I'm sorry." she said. "But you are freezing." she stated. She pulled out of the hug, and grabbed his hand, bringing him into the living room. "Sit." she said, pointing to the couch.
"Yes ma'am." Luke said. Corrine rolled her eyes. She left the room. Luke sat on the couch, hugging his sweater closer to him. It was cold outside. Thankfully, he convinced his mother to give him a ride. Unfortunately for him, his mother kept asking when she was going to meet Corrine. While Luke tried explaining she already has met her, Liz insisted that she meet her as his girlfriend. He was grateful when the ride was over.
Corrine returned with two cups of hot chocolate. She set one down in front of Luke. "I didn't know if you liked tea, and I don't know where you stand with coffee, so." Luke shook his head with a laugh, and pulled Corrine down onto his lap. She leaned against him.
"Thanks." he said. Luke gave Corrine a once over. She wore sweats, a white zipper hoodie, and he could see the straps of her black tank top peeking through. Her hair was done up in a bun, but some loose strands stuck out here and there. Corrine looked at him, and caught him staring.
