FLASHBACK

"So this is your favourite place on earth?" Luke asked Corrine as they stepped inside a dusty bookstore.

"Well, one of them. I personally love Chapters too." she said.

"They're both book stores!"

"Yes, but on is books, the other has books, paper, pen, drawing books. It's a book nerd's heaven. I wouldn't expect you to understand." she said.

"HEY! I take offense to that."

"I apologize."

"I'm only teasing."

"Whatever. Anyway, this is one of my favourite places." Corrine said.

"What makes this place so special?"

"I don't know." Corrine said, running her hands over the spines of many books.

"There has to be a reason. Everyone has a reason for something. Whether it be a place or a food, there's a story behind it all." Corrine turned to stare at him in disbelief. "Did I say something wrong?"

"N-No." Corrine stuttered. "It just- wow, where did that come from?" she breathed. Luke smiled.

"I've been spending way too much time around you."

"Is that a bad thing." Corrine said.

"No!" Luke said. "No. I enjoy spending time with you."

"Do you think . . . that once this stupid project is over . . . you'll go back to thinking I'm a freak?" Corrine asked as she disappeared behind a book shelf. Luke hurried after her, afraid to loose her.

"Of course not." Luke said, trying to seek her out in the maze of books.

"How can you be sure?"

"Because, I-" Luke stopped himself.

"Because?" he spun around. Corrine stood there, behind him. Luke desperately wanted to tell her how he felt, but he couldn't.

"Because you're my friend. And that would be a dick move." he said. Corrine stuck her hand out, her fist clenched, her pinky finger out.

"Promise?" Luke locked his with hers.

"Promise."

END OF FLASHBACK

"OWEN!" Corrine shouted when she arrived home. "OWEN I HAVE A CRISIS!" She stumbled into the living room, and found Owen with Mali and Lauren. "Oh."

"Well hi to you to." Mali joked.

"Hi. Well, I guess four heads are better than two." she said.

"What's your problem sis?" Owen asked. Corrine flopped down on the couch, face first.

"IthinkIhaveacrushonLuke." she mumbled.

"A what now?" Lauren said. Corrine lifted her head, and brushed the head out of her face.

"I think I have a crush on Luke." she said. Owen gaped at his sister, Mali fell of the chair she was sitting on, and Lauren jumped up and down.

"THIS IS EXCITING!" she squealed.

"YOU WHAT?!" Owen said. "BUT- HE, YOU-"

"I know!" Corrine said. "But, I don't know . . . these past few days have been different." Corrine said.

"But he's Luke!" Owen exclaimed.

"Oh you hush. If Ashton can learn to accept us, then you can learn to accept that your sister likes Luke."

"Thanks Lauren."

"But she's my sister." Owen said.

"And you're my brother." Corrine added.

"No shit Sherlock."

"You guys, we should be happy." Mali said. "Cory has a crush. So what. Luke's not a bad guy. Once you get to know him. Trust me. I put up with him a lot when I was younger.

"Thanks."

"Fine." Owen grumbled. "You can have your crush."

"Aw, poor you." Corrine said.

"Whatever."

"I love you." Corrine smiled at her brother.

"Sadly, I love you too."

"Jerk."

"Bitch."

"Cas!" Mali exclaimed. They all laughed.

Luke and Corrine laid on the grass at the park one afternoon, staring up at the clouds. "That one looks like a dog." Luke said. "I've always wanted a dog."

"I wanted a fish when I was younger." Corrine laughed.

"What?"

"Yeah. I wanted a clown fish. Like Nemo. That was my favourite movie growing up. That or Tarzan."

"You're strange."

"I know." Luke rolled over on top of Corrine, propping himself up on his elbows.

"But I don't care." he said. He leaned down, and connected their lips. Corrine smiled into the kiss, and lifted her arms, tangling her fingers in his hair. She kissed him back passionately. Luke ran his tongue over her bottom lip, and Corrine opened her mouth to give him access. Luke pulled out when he ran out of breath. "God I love you."

"I love you too, Luke."

Corrine sat up straight, sweat beaded her forehead. She ran a hand over her face. "No way." she said. She did not just have a dream about kissing Luke. "No freaking way." she shook her head. What is going on? She thought to herself. Do I really want to kiss Luke? She flopped back down onto her bed, and stared up at the ceiling, breathing evenly. The answer to her was clear. And that was yes.

She did.
