Corrine stared out the windows of her bedroom, looking out at the city below her. It had been a week since she had moved to New York, and she couldn't have been happier. She still had a lot of unpacking to do. Boxes lines the walls of almost every room. She currently had all the boxes in her bedroom stacked in a corner. She hadn't set her bed up, it was just a mattress on the ground, and for the past five minutes she'd had an argument about whether to leave it that way, or set up the bed.
She sighed, glancing down at the cup of tea in her hand. The sun was setting over New York, another day ending, a new one about to begin. She set the cup down on the floor, and clasped her hands together. Corrine felt the bed dip behind her, making her jump a little. She twisted around. Luke smiled at her, wrapping his arms around. Corrine let him pull her against his chest. With her back to him, she could swear she felt his heartbeat. "Another day has come and gone." Corrine said sadly.
"I know." Luke replied.
"I'm going to miss you. I'm going to miss waking up to you every morning, hearing you sing around the apartment."
"I know." Luke whispered. "And I'm going to miss you. The way you try to stay under the covers every morning in an attempt to stay asleep. They way you quote everything. Your smile." Corrine turned around so that she could face him.
"I love you." she mumbled, resting her forehead against his. Luke craned his neck up, capturing her in a kiss.
"And I love you." Luke replied. Corrine rested her head against his chest.
"It's only for a year though." she said, closing her eyes.
"And in one year I'll be home. And we can spend all day in bed." Luke laughed. Corrine could feel the vibrations through his chest.
"Sing to me?" she asked.
"What song?" Luke smiled. He laid down on the bed, pulling her with him.
"I don't care." she said, tiredly. Luke smiled again, and began to sing softly.
Within a minute I was all packed up
I've got a ticket to another world
I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go
The silent words are hard to speak
When your thoughts are all I see
"Don't ever leave," she said to me
When we both fall asleep underneath the same sky.
To the beat of our hearts at the same time.
So close but so far away.
(Can you hear me?)
She sleeps alone.
My heart wants to come home.
I wish I was, I wish I was beside you.
She lies awake.
I'm trying to find the words to say.
I wish I was, I wish I was beside you.
