Tyler's POV
After school I head home. It's really nice weather today, not too hot or cold. Those days are rare in Melbourne. I cross the road quickly and look back at the road. Shit. Abrielle is right there, in the car, right in front of me. Great. Why do I have to see her after school as well? She notices me and does that stupid stare. She looks even more startled than ever. I quickly look away, and speed walk across the road.
When I walk into English for first period I see Abrielle in class with the same facial expression from the car. I raise an eyebrow at her, hopefully she would stop. She's not. Why do I even try? I sit next to Brian in the back corner, behind Abrielle and Christina. Couldn't Brian pick a better spot?
Brian greets me. "Hey Tyler boy! What's with the glum face?"
I frown at him. "Couldn't you pick a better spot?"
"What's wrong with here..." He looks in front."Oh, but I thought you would like to sit near your girlfriend?"
"No way she's not my girlfriend! And it's even more awkward now since I saw her in the car yesterday." I cross my arms.
Brian rolls his eyes. "Yeah yeah I know that," I told him over text when I got home. He replied with '*laughing emoji x 20* You would have been so happy hahahaha' I almost broke my phone. "I'll ask her if she saw you too. Hey Ab-"
I cover his mouth. "No what the f*ck? Can you just shut up about it?"
He pulls my hand away. "Hey Abrielle did you see Tyler crossing the road?" God, I hate him so much right now.
She turns around with that death stare. I swear if she does that too much she'll look like that forever. "Well, yeah I did."
"Yeah, it wasn't really pleasant seeing her ugly face." I say. Dammit, why can't my mouth keep shut?
"I have an ugly face?! Look at yourself! You look like something that crawled out of the trash!" She fires back.
"You shouldn't be talking! What about that bush on your head?!" I shout at her.
"What about that dead animal on your head?!"
"Are you serious, it looks like you haven't plucked your eyebrows in years."
"Excuse me? It looks like your eyebrows haven't had a spray of weed killer."
At this point, everyone in the class is looking at us. Abrielle hangs her head low, looking angry and red. "Would you guys quieten down back there?"Ms Vienetta says.
"Sorry miss." I mutter. Abrielle doesn't say anything. What a bitch! I'm the one who has to say sorry. I know I kind of started it, but she's the one who continued it!
I continue my work. "Damn, well that was something." Brian whispers to me.
I'm so mad right now, steam is coming out of my ears. "Couldn't you say something? Like stand up for me so she could shut up?"
He shrugs his shoulders. "I didn't wanna interfere, it was actually pretty entertaining."
My teeth grind together in anger. "So me fighting with someone is entertaining to you?!"
He looks at me, confused."Dude... what she said hurt you?"
"No! But you still could have said something without being an asshole!"
"Sorry man..."
We sit in silence for the rest of the lesson. But I soon realise that there's no point in fighting. "Hey man, just letting you now, I forgive you now, sorry." I say to him.
Brian's face lights up. "It's all good man!" I grin. Sometimes I can be such a douche.
. . .
When I get home, I'm greeted by Freya. "Hey Tyler! Guess what we did in class today! We drew self portraits in art! Look at my one." She holds up a painted picture of her, blonde hair, blue eyes with what seems to be a basketball jersey. Basketball is like a part of our family. My dad, Freya and I are crazy for it, but my mum, not so much.
"That's such a good painting!" I say, smiling.
"Thanks!" She skips away to the living room. She's so cute. A lot of people say Freya's a little girl version of me, and I have to say they're right.
Mum walks into the room. "Hi darling!"
"Hey mum." I reply.
She sighs. "Your father is coming home late. Big meeting."
"Guess he's hard working."I shrug my shoulders. Mum has the same blonde hair and blue eyes as Freya and I. But weirdly enough, Dad looks really different to the three of us. He has dark brown hair with brown eyes. Not to mention his very dark eyebrows.
Freya runs back into the room."Hey Tyler! Tyler! My birthday is really soon! And I'm going to have a HUGE party!"
"Ha ha ha, I know Freya." I laugh.
"How am I ever going to organize this, I need your help Tyler." Mum says while she's washing dishes.
I smile at her."Don't worry mum! I'll help you with Freya's birthday." I tickle Freya while she giggles and wriggles around.
"You better not put any vegetables in my cake!" Freya stomps her feet.
"Of course not! If you're nice to me..." I tickle her again. She laughs even louder and runs outside.
I wish I was young again like her.
