Abrielle's POV
When I hear the words 'Athletics Day' I cringe. Running, field events, jumping, all of those things I'm really terrible at. That's why over the past 2 years of having athletics day in high school I've just sat with my friends the whole time, not participating in any events. And I'm in Farens, the blue house. I don't even have much blue clothing. I had to shovel through my wardrobe trying to find something blue, the other years I've just worn my sports uniform. But I left it in my locker at school, so I had no choice. I finally manage to find a forgotten adidas training top with matching shorts. I chuck them on and get ready for the day.
Once I arrive at school I meet up with Nikki, Olivia, Christina, Brian and Alex. My immediate thought was where's Tyler?! "And in case you're wondering Abrielle," Jackson tells me. "Tyler's running a bit late. He's coming don't worry." How did he just read my mind?!
Christina hears Nikki, Olivia and I talking about how we're just gonna sit on the steps all day. "C'mon guys! Don't just sit around doing nothing, help your house out!"
Nikki rolls her eyes. "Chimp, we're not extremely sporty like you all right?"
"Yeah I know, but you guys should at least get involved!" She whines. Christina is the sporty one in our group. She plays tennis, soccer AND basketball. She's literally a professional at any sport. Gym class is her time to shine. Whether it's rugby or badminton, she's going to beat you. And she's more competitive than anyone. She can be pretty scary playing sports, so that's why I usually stay on her team, you do not want to go up against her.
When we're just about to board the buses, Tyler jumps out from a car on the other side road and comes running to us. He's in the green house Allen, wearing a bright green top with shorts, literally the same as mine, only the stripes are a different colour. Even his runners are green.
"Hey Tyler! We've you been?" Brian says, high-fiving him.
"You know where I was! I messaged you saying I was coming late because I accidentally slept in." Tyler frowns.
Alex pats him on the back. "Well, it's good that you're finally here. What were you doing last night that made you sleep in eh? Did it perhaps involve some late night interaction with... a special someone?" He turns to me and raises an eyebrow. I give him the 'Why the hell are you looking at me?' look while blushing.
Tyler punches his arm. "No you asshole, I just forgot to turn my alarm on."
"Mhmm, sure sure." Jackson grins at him. Are they always this annoying to him?
"Hey Tyler." I smile. I just realised I forgot to say hi to him earlier.
He looks at me with an open mouth, his cheeks slightly red. "Hey Abrielle." He smiles and we look at each other for a few seconds, shortly being interrupted by the teachers directing us which bus to board. He moves closer to me in the line. "Do you want to be partners?" He says, giving an awkward but cute smile.
I look around to see who's partnered with who. As usual, Nikki's with Brian, and Olivia and Christina are paired up. Alex and Jackson are behind him, playing some punching game, so I make the assumption that they're gonna be together. "Yeah, sure." I say.
We finally get on the buses and sit down. What a relief, I thought my legs were gonna fall off from standing so long. "So, what's up?" He says.
I fiddle with my fingers nervously. I can't think of a topic to talk about. "Um, nothing much, what about you?"
He pushes his hair back and sighs. "My sister, Freya, this morning hid my bloody phone in her room and I went crazy trying to find it. I was so mad."
