Abrielle's POV

"DRIBBLE ABRIELLE, DRIBBLE!" Gabby my basketball coach yells at me. I push through no. 5 and shoot. It goes in and the crowd goes wild. I quickly glance at the scoreboard. 33-30, It's so close, we need to win. The opposing team throws it in but Krissy, one of my team mates, snatches the ball and taps it in the basket. Just two more shots and the game is ours.

Gabby calls for a time-out. We run over to her, listening for instructions. "Okay Girls, we need two more shots, just two more. We are so close, we can do this! It's only 5 more minutes 'till the end. Abrielle and Safyia, I'm swapping you with Chelsea and Jess." That's fine by me, I feel like if I play any longer my body will collapse. We throw our hands in and yell, "ONE, TWO, THREE, DIAMONDS!" I sit on the bench, looking carefully at the game.

As I'm cheering on my team, I spot someone in the corner of my eye. Tyler?! He told me that he plays for Dornwood basketball club like I do, but it's unexpected seeing him here, since his games are usually on Fridays. He runs to me. "Hey, what's up?"

"Hey, fancy seeing you here." I smile. I got a bit distracted by his well structured biceps, basketball jerseys look so good on guys. Wait, what the hell am I thinking? It's just arms...

"Yeah, they moving our games on Saturday from now on, they thought it's a better time." He looks at the game. "Wow, you guys are good! And it's a draw!"

"Yeah, we have to win this." I say to him while he's intently looking at the game. I just realised this was the first time we've had an actual conversation since the time we almost kissed at camp. My body shakes a little.

"Think you guys will. You got a free throw!" Tyler exclaims. I turn around to see it's Allison shooting it. Yes! She's so good at free throws.

Allison aims for the hoop. Time's running out, there's only 40 seconds left! She throws it in and the crowd cheers. The second shot she misses, but Jess steals the ball from one of the opposing players rebounds it quickly back in. Damn, those girls are machines. The buzzer goes off and it's the end of the game. After I shake hands with the opposing team I meet Gabby and the team before I go. "Great job girls! This was a super close one, only won by one point, a bit too close." The team laughs nervously. I don't know what we would have done without that one free throw, or else it would have been a draw. "Remember, training is on Tuesday and Thursday. Be there or be square." She high-fives us and we do a group hug.

I grab my stuff and head to the door, but then I see Tyler doing a warm up with his team before the game. He waves to me and shoots the ball in from the 3 pointer line. My eyes widen. He's so good! It's so hard getting it from the 3 pointer, you really need to concentrate and aim perfectly.

"Let's go Abrielle!" Sam whines as he's pulling on my shorts.

"Can I just watch this game for 5 minutes?" I push him over.

Mum and dad walk over to us. "Me too, I really want to see their skill, perfect control of the ball they've got." Dad strokes his chin.

The game starts so fast paced about 10 seconds after the jump ball the opposing team to Tyler scores a point. I draw my eyes over to him, watching the way he jumps for the rebounds and how he stops and starts his pace so quickly. His face looks so serious, keeping a sharp eye on the ball. I don't even really watch the actual game, my eyes stick on Tyler the whole time, watching his every move.

"You only wanna watch it so you can stare at Tyler, your boyfriend." Sam chuckles.

I turn red, thinking that my parents would believe him. "Oh, Abrielle! I didn't know you had a boyfriend!" Mum says.

"Mum! He's not my boyfriend! He's just a friend!" I cross my arms. I shoot an evil look at Sam. He's still laughing, that little shit.

"Wait, Tyler? That young fellow from your primary school? You two were very troublesome. Remember we had to meet up with his parents and the teacher because you two were misbehaving too much?" Dad says while giving me a disappointed look.

"Oh love! That was when she was in fifth grade! They've become friends now, you should be happy about that! And look how handsome he looks now! He grew up well." Mum smiles. "Sam, didn't you go to his little sister's party?"

Sam gives mum a shy look. "Yeah, her name's Freya."

I roll my eyes. "Can we just get back to watching the game?"

Dad looks over his shoulder. "Where are his parents? We should meet them, and Freya too."

Mum glances at her watch and gasps. "We can't, there's no time! We have to go home to meet Uncle Anwar. Let's go, c'mon Abrielle and Sam!"

Sam and I start following mum and dad. I look back at Tyler one more time, he just blocked a shot from the other team. He notices me walking out the door. I wave quickly at him before walking out. I can't stop smiling. That guy got me feeling some type of way...
