Abrielle's POV
This morning has been, by far the worst of the school year. I forgot to set my alarm, so that caused me to wake up at 7:34. My parents apparently 'forgot' to wake me up because they were too involved in Sam 'cause they found out he stayed up late playing video games. I was in such a rush this morning that I gobbled up my breakfast in under a minute, my shower was only 3 minutes and I forgot to put my spray that makes my curly hair not frizz, so it looks like a bush right now. Also I only had time to grab a tuna can for lunch, I didn't have time to make a sandwich.
I finally threw on my school uniform and rushed out the door. Dad was pulling out of the driveway to go to work. I hopped in the car and practically forced my dad to drop me at school. Without a word he speeds to the front gate of school. I thanked him and jumped out. And now I'm here, sitting in form assembly, looking like a mess.
Nikki walks in and laughs when she sees me. "Hey Abs! What happened to you? Looks like you just survived a day out in the wilderness by the look of your hair."
"I was in a rush this morning okay." I cross my arms. "I'm really not in the mood."
"Oh Abrielle, I was just kidding, don't be in such a pissy mood." She rolls her eyes.
Olivia and Christina walk in soon after, followed by Alex, Brian and Jackson. The bell rings for the start of form assembly and my heart drops. Where is Tyler?! Then suddenly, he walks in the room and my face lights up. He flashes me a smile and sits beside me. "Hey, how you doing baby girl?" The memory of when I saw him yesterday strikes me like lightning. That was actually really fun when we played basketball together. But the moment he took his shirt off was so hot- um, forget I ever said anything.
"I told you not to call me that like a hundred times!" I frown, trying to hide my grin. When he calls me that I just get so nervous and embarrassed and happy and giggly and... I just don't know what's wrong with me.
"Whatever, I'm still calling you that." He winks. "And by the way what the heck happened to your hair? It's crazier than usual."
"I was in a rush this morning! Can't you just shut up?!" I spit back.
"Okay, okay." He laughs. I just want to strangle him so bad. One day I'll do it.
. . .
The school day goes by pretty fast and before I know it, it's home time. I step outside and immediately step back inside. It's pouring rain. And I don't have an umbrella. I was in such a rush this morning I stupidly forgot an umbrella? It's about a 25-30 minute walk home, and there's no spare one in my locker. I absolutely hate it when it rains. What am I going to do? Christina rides a bike home, and she doesn't even have an umbrella, so that's not really an option. Olivia and Nikki both get dropped off, but Olivia has to take the bus because her mum has something important to do, and Nikki has to go to a doctor's appointment, so I can't get a lift from them. Great.
"Abs! Stop getting worried about stupid things! So what if you get wet?" Christina says when we arrive at our lockers.
"You know that I hate it when it rains!" I reply.
"You'll just be a little wet! It's nothing to worry about!" Olivia adds.
"Yeah, stop being so whiny about it." Nikki says while she shoves her books in her bag.
I look up to the sky and see it's pouring rain. Looks like it's never going to ease down. I say bye to my friends and brace myself as I run in the rain. Now I have to run home to avoid getting drenched. I think about covering my head with my school jacket but I've tried that once before and it didn't really work out. I couldn't even see where I was going and I got a lot of weird looks from people driving past and walking on the street.
