It's Complicated

Chapter 16

Tyler's POV

I'm so surprised that Abrielle apologized to me. I thought she would never do that. I'm glad that things have gone good between us. It was so nice to actually have a proper conversation with her. I don't think I've ever seen her smile with me. Her eyes were filled with so much happiness, I could tell she was feeling the same way. Maybe it's time to become friends. I had the feeling that we would stop being enemies, once we're tired of it, but I didn't except it to happen so suddenly.

Anyway, after an hour, we finally arrive at Portview Bay camp. After we retrieve our bags. The camp instructor rants on about the camp while showing us around, saying it's 'where they belong' and to 'take care' of it, whatever that means. After he finishes his rant and the tour, the teachers instruct us to our cabins. I'm in a cabin with Brian, Alex and Jackson, with a few other guys I know.

Abrielle, Nikki, Olivia and Christina, with some other girls, are in the cabin right next to us. "Hey that's a pretty good coincidence!" Abrielle tells me. 

"Yeah, pretty lucky we are." I thought I would never hear those words being told to me, by her.

Once we've settled into our cabins, the first activity we have is surfing. I catch a glimpse of Abrielle catching a wave a few metres away. She throws her head back and laughs when she gets up from falling. She looks at me too and smiles. I never thought that would happen either. You know that one person you're always looking at? For me that's Abrielle. And for the first time it's not a bad thing.

The day passes quickly by so fast it's already after dinner. For 30 minutes we're allowed free time before the night activity, which is a quiz. "I don't want to do that stupid quiz!" Christina complains.

"Yeah same, we should ditch it." Jackson replies.

"Are you kidding? We're gonna get caught and get in trouble!" Abrielle cries. Her innocence kills me. She's such a goody-two shoes.

"Geez Abrielle! Live a little! So what we get caught? It's not like we're running away." Nikki says.

"So what are we going to do?" I ask.

"I know! Let's hide in our cabin. And if a teacher comes looking for us we'll just hide in the bathroom." Olivia suggests.

"See Abrielle? We won't get in trouble! And I bet they won't notice that we went." Nikki proves her point.

Abrielle frowns. "But what if they ask us later why we weren't there?!" 

"Do you think the teachers will care? I bet that quiz will be a disaster." Brian answers.

"Well... okay then..." She pouts her mouth.

The eight of us run quickly inside the girl's cabin. It's not very different to ours, just a lot neater. The guy's cabin has clothes scatted everywhere. We sit around the cabin and just talk. The whole time Brian's holding Nikki with his arms wrapped around her. I turn to Abrielle, who's beside me. An image flashes in my mind of Abrielle and I doing the same thing, but I shake it out of my head. Why am I thinking about that?! 

"Hey guys! Let's play a game." Alex jumps down from the top bunk.

"Yeah! Let's play truth or dare." Christina grins. I see Abrielle's face fall a little, I'm guessing that was the game that caused the fight between us. 

Alex goes first and chooses dare. We whisper quickly, exchanging ideas for what he should do. "I'll say it," Brian calls out. "You have to run around the oval naked!"

"What the f*ck I ain't running naked!" Alex crosses his arms.

"Okay, just in your underwear, 'cause there's girls here." He chuckles.

"Fine, but you better do a dare when it's your turn, which is next." Alex says while unbuckling his pants.

"EW! Oh my god can you do it in the bathroom or something? This isn't a strip show!" Olivia covers her eyes.

He runs in the bathroom and comes out only in his white bonds underwear. The rest of us are laughing so hard we can't breathe. "I am SO filming this!" Brian takes his phone out.

"Well, if you're gonna film, I have the full authority to film yours." Alex walks to the door. "Okay guys, I'm doing this!" He runs out to the oval and does a lap. It's the funniest thing I've seen in my life. We're all holding our phones up, filming it for our Snapchat stories. I can't even hold the phone straight because I'm laughing so much. After he's finished his dare he runs back inside and slips back his clothes on. Luckily no one caught him. "It's so f*cking cold!" He shivers. "I bet I was so close to getting caught."

"Oh my god I can't believe you did that!" Brian laughs. "Think it's my turn now, for the sake of Alex I'll choose dare."

Alex punches the air. "Yes! Now it's payback time," he becomes silent for a while, thinking of what he should do. "Aha! You have to go outside, climb up a tree and make bird noises for thirty seconds, in your underwear!"

Brian shakes his head. "I'll do the dare but I'm not going out in my underwear, then the dare would be too similar to yours, and I'm making noises, you just had to run."

"Yeah, almost naked." He sighs while everyone laughs.

"Okay, I'm doing it now." Brian says as he walks out the door.

"Good luck babe!" Nikki cries to him, emotionally. Geez, I think. It's not like he's going off to war.

While everyone gets their phone ready, Brian tiptoes towards the tree and carefully climbs it, trying not to make a noise. He sits on a high branch and yells "WA WA WA!" This is the second funniest thing I've seen in my life.

When Brian's dare is up, he runs back into the room. He looks to the side, his eyes immediately widen. "Shit guys there's a teacher walking down this way!" We scream and frantically hide in the bathroom.

"Guys! Calm down," Jackson reassures us. "are you sure it was a teacher Brian?" 

He looks up, trying to remember. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure, I don't know who the teacher was though."

Abrielle looks at me with her eyes as big as sauces. "Are we gonna get caught?"

"Don't worry we won't."  I say, my eyes avoiding her gaze. She looks so freaking cute. I blush and uncomfortably bite my lip. What is this feeling?!

We hear a the door slam open. "Who's in here?!" Oh shit, the teacher was Mrs Tiera?! The eight of us huddle together, completely silent. Abrielle looks at me like she's about to burst into tears. It's okay, I've got you, I mouth to her, softly whispering. She holds my hand tight, hanging on for dear life. An electric shock goes through my body when she holds my hand tighter every second. What the hell is wrong with me? I think. She's just holding my hand, Jesus Christ.

The door closes but we still don't do anything. After about a minute Jackson slowly sticks out his head from the room to check the door. "She's gone guys."

We let out a deep breath."Thank god she didn't check the bathroom, we would have all been dead." I say, wiping the sweat off my forehead. I'm about to get up but I realise Abrielle is still holding my hand. I look at her and she quickly takes her hand away, blushing profusely. I give her a cheeky smile which widen her eyes even more. I have a feeling that she's forgotten we used to be enemies.
