After Gio had taken me up to his suite and left, I had spent some of my time lounging on his bed watching TV until I got bored. I remembered that I had promised Gio that I would sleep over, so I figured I should called home and let them know not to expect me that night.
I took out my phone and decided to call mom instead. She was easier to deal with at the moment and more understanding. If I had called Dad, he would have immediately flipped about me staying out at a time like that. Even more, he probably would've tracked me down to figure out exactly where I was if I refused to tell him. Then he would've made a big mountain about me being at Fantastica Hotel with Gio. They already branded him as the enemy even though they still hadn't been able to proved that he was apart of any Mafia related activities or groups.
"Mom," I greeted as she answered her phone. "I'm just calling to let you guys know that I'm fine in case you don't hear from me for the remainder of today. And by the way I won't be home tonight. Please let Dad know too if he asks. "
"Let me guess, you're staying with a friend?" mom said to me.
"Yes I am."
"That specific friend that Alphonso and Dominic aren't too keen about you getting too close to?"
"Yeah mom, that friend. Please just try to keep Dad calm about it okay."
"I'll try, although it won't be easy. And honey please be careful, you're Dad and brother means well."
"I know mom, you all do. I love you." I said to her.
"Love you too sweetie, have a good day okay?"
"Thanks mom. I'll see tomorrow." I replied before I hung up.
After I had ended my call with mom, I had decided to send a text to Dominic and told him that he could call off his watchdogs or tell them to take a long break or something because where I was, I wouldn't be leaving again for the rest of today.
Pietro and Ian had tailed me from I left home that morning, it was their job to ensure that I didn't encounter anymore possible danger and I knew that they were outside the hotel.
Just as I had sent the text and went to put my phone on the nightstand beside Gio's bed, I somehow miscalculated the distance and the phone accidentally fell to the floor."Crap!" I groaned as I bent over the side of the bed to picked it up.
I had soon realised that the back of my phone as well as the battery, had flew out and went under the bed.
"Ugh! Seriously?" I sighed as I got off the side of the bed then bent down to retrieved the rest of my phone.
I lifted the covers on the bed as I looked for my phone parts. My hand finally touched the battery, but that was when I saw something that made me stopped. It was a gun laid upon a folder. I slowly took up my battery and my phone back but still, I couldn't helped being surprised about the gun. It wasn't that weird though considering that Gio was a business man who had lots of money, he could've just had it for protection. But another part of me -- the part that Dominic and Dad had influenced so much -told me otherwise.
I had wanted some answers for a good while and being right there in his suite... well curiosity got the better of me.
A lot of thoughts ran through my mind. I was curious about that file more than ever. Probably if the gun wasn't on top of it, I wouldn't have cared or thought much about it but seeing it there gave me this urge which said that I had to find out what was in there. I knew that I was being inquisitive but after all, I was initially supposed to investigate Gio. Paranoia took over and I wondered if it was a trick that Gio had planned to see if I could be trusted? I also thought, what if he was videoing me and watching right now. Or what if I touched the folder with my bare hands and then later Gio took it and got it scanned for fingerprints or something? He would definitely found out that I was snooping.
I looked around the room just to see if there were any cameras and when I saw none, I silently prayed that he didn't have any that was hidden. I let out a nervous sigh as I pulled the folder from under the bed with the gun still on top. I took the gun and put it aside as I opened the folder and hoped that Gio did not walk in on me going through his stuff.
When I opened the folder and spun a couple of the pages, I thought that maybe I was indeed being paranoid. The things that were in that file were nothing out of the ordinary- just a few normal plans and information that had to do with his businesses. All I saw were plans to upgrade or open new hotels, clubs and restaurants.
"I'm seriously getting too paranoid because of Dad and Dominic." I sighed.
I shut the folder and was about to put it back when I heard like the front door to the suite had been opened. Almost in a panic the folder fell from my hand and lap on to the floor.
"Shit!" I cursed as I picked it up but a picture fell out which immediately caught my attention.
I couldn't helped but to wonder if it was real. I thought I was dreaming.
Alphonso Luciano- Leader of the Luciano's Group
That was what was written at the back of the photo. I turned it over and indeed, it was a picture of Dad- though a slightly younger picture. I knew then that it could not be a coincident.
"Lexi?" I heard Gio called, which caused me to swore again as I quickly stuffed the picture back into the folder and pushed it back under the bed with the gun back on top.
"I'm in here!" I called back as I quickly scrambled from the floor and sat on his bed.
A few seconds later, Gio peeped his head in.
"Hey, I just came to grab something for Mr.Guliani. I'll soon be back alright." He said.
"Its okay, take your time." I managed to smiled at him before he left once again.
I let out a sigh of relief. I could've sworn that Gio would have caught me.
The second I heard Gio had left the suite, I couldn't helped it as I got off the bed and I knelt down to retrieved that folder once again.I knew that I was risking being caught by Gio but I had to confirmed what I had seen. I found it hard to believe the coincidence. I opened the folder once more and flipped through the pages until I came upon something which told me all I need to know. There were pages with the names and position of not only Dad but at least two other Mafia boss's that I knew I had heard about before. Even though there wasn't much information present and though Dad was no longer the leader of the Luciano mafia- I knew that things were no longer just a coincident. I knew that this probably meant trouble.
I didn't want to believed it even though I knew it was a possibility, I finally had the answer I had been looking for.
Giovanni Cavelli was indeed involved in the Mafia. Therefore, what Dominic and Dad had suspected before was probably true, he was the boss of an enemy Mafia group.
