Calum was nervously making his way into an unfamiliar apartment building. He was immediately astonished when he walked into the complex, everything was so much more high-end than his apartment and he knew that he'd have to sell at least three kidneys to afford an apartment here. Calum definitely wasn't surprised that the band had an apartment here.
He was fidgeting with his clothes as he made his way into the elevator. He fixed his beanie in the mirror in the elevator. He was on his way to see Michael. They had been talking non-stop for about a week and half. Michael found him really funny and really sweet, especially after the whole "Lenny and fingering" incident that made him want to keep in contact. They had exchanged numbers that night and they easily bonded.
The brunette heard the elevator ding and the doors were opening too soon. He had only talked to Michael twice in person and knew it'd be very awkward. Especially since he admitted to fingering himself quite often last time they talked.
Calum walked down the hallway and counted the numbers, making his way to the apartment building Michael had texted him the number of. He read the numbers 6-1-4 and knocked on the wooden door, quickly looking down at his feet after and fiddling his thumbs nervously.
The brunette boy didn't have to wait long because the door was soon flung open and he was met face to chest with the redhead he had been talking to for the past two weeks. Michael embraced him and Calum wrapped his arms around the boy, following his lead.
"I missed you," Michael said, grinning widely.
Calum rolled his eyes before responding, "We've talked every single day. You definitely did not miss me. If anything we've grown tired. I'll just leave now. You're suck of me anyways," Calum said. He pulled away from the redhead but was quickly pulled back.
"No. Stay," Michael grumbled, hugging the smaller boy tighter.
Calum allowed the boy to cling to him. Soon they were pulling away and Michael was leading him inside.
"Welcome to my humble abode."
Calum followed Michael inside.
"Do you want a tour?"
Calum's response was just a shrug. "I was thinking that we could just stay inside today. It's way too hot to walk around today and if we go inside a store or something we'll be mobbed."
Calum's response, again, was a shrug. Michael tugged on his arm and started showing him different things in the apartment.
"This is the kitchen where Luke normally is."
They'd walk a few steps.
"This is my bedroom where I normally am."
They'd walk a few more steps.
"Here is our instrument storage room where we jam sometimes.
It continued like that for a few minutes before they went to all four rooms, the bathrooms, the closets, and the kitchen. Michael had given a more thorough explanation to each room and Calum looked interested the whole time which made the redhead smile.
"Now, back to where the magic happens. My bedroom," Michael explained. He opened the door, allowing Calum to walk in first. He may have checked out the smaller boy but he wouldn't admit to it. The small boy's butt looked really good in his jeans and Michael would take note of it for later.
Calum awkwardly took in the appearance of the room he had been in a few minutes before and didn't know what to do. Michael motioned to his bed and Calum quickly sat down, Michael following his lead. He took off his shoes so he wouldn't get the comforter dirty and realized Michael was barefoot himself.
"How have you been?" Michael asked, leaning back against his headboard. Calum turned though so that his legs were crossed and he could face Michael.
"Like you don't know?" Calum asked. The two had literally talked every day since their last run in at In-N-Out. He knew everything about Calum's schedule.
"Yeah, but what about everything else you've done that you haven't told me about. Like fingering yourself," Michael said, making Calum blush.
Calum scoffed but later responded, "I do not finger myself as often as you assume. I do other things too."
"Like what, jerk?" Michael asked, making Calum blush again.
"Stop," Calum whined, making Michael chuckle.
"I'm kidding. I'm kidding. But seriously, what do you do besides work the late shifts at In-N-Out?" Michael asked.
"Run a YouTube account with over half a million subscribers," Calum thought. He didn't say that at all though. He decided to talk about some of his smaller hobbies instead.
"I go to the pet store down the street from my apartment quite often and play with the puppies. I also catch up on sleep a lot. That's one of my main hobbies. I go to the park often too," Calum answered, making Michael smile at his response. Calum was such a normal person and didn't care about his fame and he craved that. Michael hated how he had old friends use him for popularity but Calum didn't seem to care. He actually seemed more nervous over the fact of them being seen then he would've expected. Calum was shy in front of people and Michael liked that.
"That's such a simple life. I wish I could live that way sometimes. Touring can get so stressful and the idea of just walking out of my apartment and going to visit a bunch of animals seems so nice," Michael admitted.
"We can do it next time we hang out. I'll take you to the store where they know me by name and we can just play with the animals and it will be great," Calum said, smiling widely.
"We haven't even finished hanging out the first time and you're already planning out the second time. How fascinating," Michael mused, a grin forming on his lips. Calum rolled his eyes but allowed Michael's teasing comment to slide.
Michael stared at Calum a bit after saying that, neither of the two really saying anything.
"Cuddle me," Michael said, holding his hands out. Michael smiled and Calum blushed. The smaller boy awkwardly complied. He didn't know if this was going to change things between him and Michael but he doubted this would. Friends could cuddle obviously.
Calum crawled over to Michael and plopped down on Michael's lap. The redhead wrapped his arms around the boy on him and the two just laid their peacefully. Michael was so comfortable.
Calum was also so very comfortable. He loved the feeling of Michael's arms around him and he felt do warm. He liked how Michael would bury his face in his neck and he liked how their legs slotted together.
"You're blushing. You're so cute," Michael cooed, poking at Calum's sides lightly.
"Shut up," Calum mumbled, hiding his face in his hands.
"This is even cuter. Your hands made sweater paws," Michael cooed again. Calum messed flopped his sweater paws and Michael chuckled.
"Shut up," they heard a voice say. Calum shifted in Michael's lap and saw Luke and Ashton standing at the door. Calum had yet to meet Ashton and he was kind of mentally freaking out. He didn't say anything though.
"Shut up Luke," Michael grumbled, flipping Luke the bird.
Luke and Ashton laughed as they watched their best friend cuddle the boy they had heard him endlessly talk about for a really long time. They knew Michael had some sort of feelings for Calum, even though they hadn't known each other for long. It wasn't strong, love-type feelings, but it was the kind where Michael just really wanted to be around Calum a lot.
Calum felt the same way. Michael was making living in Los Angeles so much more interesting and he finally had more than one friend. He wouldn't say it out loud just yet but Michael was making everything much more exciting.
